Black wheels - Opinions

Hi all

 

There are a lot of cars these days with black wheels. It seems to be a growing trend.

 

I personally hate them. They seem to make the wheel disappear into the arch and you can't see much of the definition making them all look the same. They don't look quite as bad maybe with a chrome or polished lip giving them some definition of size.

 

Just wondered if I was alone in this opinion or if others shared my views?

It totally depends on the car and the wheel design, some look nice and others don't.

i love black wheels on a silver or white supra.not into bling in ya face weels but some wheels like ccw classics look great or the weld drag wheels dude had on his car.

Best black wheels I've ever seen were on a white mk1 Elise with a polished lip.

 

Was thinking about getting my new wheels painted black, but just not sure!

Like everything else to do with styling it's personal preference, but I think all-black wheels only work well on white or black cars (and wheels should be silver, grey, or black).

yeah it depends on the car. i had my 17s black when i first got them. didnt like them much.

i like black wheels and have a set of black CE28 on my silver sup...also thinking of having it resprayed in black so it will be black on black. It depends on what you like really, there is no right or wrong when it comes to styling

Mine had black wheels on it when I bought it. Khan 5 spokes with no dish etc. I sold them immediately and bought the Rays ones I have on now, silver with polished lips. It was surprising how much they lifted the car.

 

Black wheels suit some cars...esp those that have a proper race look to them, I think anyway.

Wheel design

Stock vs Kitted car

Car colour

Ride height.....etc

 

Which will all effect the look. Personally I like black wheels...especially on Anthracite (MSB) Supras:

I'm biased, but I love the look, very mean. I've bought a set of d2's that have a polished lip and I'm building up the courage to spray over the shiny-ness and go all satin black with them.

I am biased too! But - I'd rather see less cars with them as they are getting more common, even on OEM cars now.

I'd say that they work with the right car and most imporantly the right coloured car.

Light coloured cars only.

 

A glossy black wheel that catches the light can look very 'purposeful'.
