gavin.starr
My supra is currently declared SORN, so i thought iw would ring up my insurance and ask to reduce the policy seeing as im not driving it. When i rang up they said that they would reduce it to third party fire and theft, which they then said they couldnt do because of the value of the car. so they then said they would lower my milage limit to 1000 miles which knocked sodd all off. I dont want to fully un-insure the supra just incase, but is there any decent insurance policys out there that will do cheap cover considering that the vehicle is SORN'd At the moment im paying £800 a year to look at my supra out of my front window
Dnk
I doubt it, when i insured my car it seems that milage doesnt make much differance to the cost of the cover, on mine going from 3000 to 5000 miles a year was only £15 more which doesn't make sense to me. Most company's minus specialist one's and special policies like classic ect will normally charge a similar cost for upto the 6000 mile mark for some reason as they all seem to agree that is what a years milleage should be at for a year. I had the strange moment when my insurance was cheaper to have it for 6k miles instead of 5k
AJI
Insurance companies very rarely give out reduced payments for things, their systems are stacked at adding on extra percentages here and there. Even when your Supra is SORN the insurance covering it covers 'fire' & 'theft' at all times even though there is no extra probability that somebody may drive in to your or vice versa. So when they say 'because of the value of the car' it means they are covering the risk of that value for events that you may claim over if it got thefted or fired. In all cases though you can guarentee you're being ripped off as we all pay way too over the odds for insurance in the UK. I've not looked in to it much but some of the classic car insurances may cover the Supra. These usually take in to account summer only driving.
