550 Evo vs 566 supra

ADD

Recommended Posts

Hey chaps, lad up my road has had his Evo 8 modified quite heavily, got anti lag and all that which is kicking out 550bhp.

He wants to go out and have a little play. I'm not feel very confident about it to be honest! what do you think the outcome will be?

Obviously he will trash me pulling away but 60 plus I think I'll be ok.

Cheers

Hard to say, but I'm sure you'll find out :)

I would have thought he'd have the edge until at least 100, but it really depends on the conditions. Unless its perfectly dry, you're going to get spanked!

Couldn't agree more. I'd never do it unless completely dry anyhow.

I would say your probably right about lower speeds and it depends on how that 550 is setup on his car. Like the subarus they are rally cars and the majority of the power and speed is lower down. Logic would dictate that higher speeds the Supra would have the edge, but Evo's are damn fast cars.

The only way to know is to have a go on a private track of course.

he is going to kill you, being single you wont get back what you lost in acceleration for a long time if at all. IMO

ps

dont race for slips :p

pps

a high rolling start you might have a chance IE 50-70

The Bullseye s362 he's running is a great spooler and will see decent boost before a stock TT setup.

You're best bet is from a rolling start on a dry day, though I doubt he'll give you that advantage :)

Well since I have had both (well similar) 480 supra and 400 subaru STi, I have to agree... you will do well if you keep with the EVO up to 100. As said above the EVOs and Subarus are designed to be quick down low, fast acceleration out of corners. Once the supra gets going, its hard to beat, but low down I think you struggle a lot.

i had abit of a play with mates scooby, he kept up from the off until i got the power down in second. then left him dead :D it was running about 380bhp. but tbh you cant really compare the two as they are completely different. and we all know(him included) that an evo will kill a a supra of the line. he wouldnt ask for a race otherwise!

I had a race with an Evo 8 in my stock TT, I went past him and we had a little play for a bit, as we were rolling from about 40mph - 80mph we were side by side pretty much and then the Supra started pulling away strong. We did a few runs and it was pretty much the same thing, we started side by side for a little bit & then I kept pulling away. I am unsure if he had mods of anything to his car, I'd imagine it was stock too, it have big brakes on his car. On a rolling start I think you could have him past 80mph!

just do it!

its not the winning its the taking part :D

yeah that i'd be curious to see how it faired.............you are never going to fluff a gear change are you and the Evo is definitely more highly strung at this bhp so anything might happen if he's brutal with it!

Adz - You running an auto? If so then that will help quite a bit. When me & the chap I mentioned above you could see he was shifting gears whilst the auto box was blipping away! Each time he shifted he dropped a tiny bit, one thing I loved about the Supra autobox.
