My little Kitchen Project -

Recommended Posts

So November 2010 my self and Lindsay bought her mum and dad's house to allow them to move into there big new home that they wanted, but as the Market was terrible at the time, we decided to help them out. So the house was built in 93(same year as my Supra :D) The kitchen was a bit of a mess considering it was decorated in the early 90's. Its taken us a year to finally get back on our feet with moving house, higher rates moving from my Flat and Lins Flat, so a 4 bedroom Detached house.

So here goes we decided it was time to start with the Kitchen, Biggest Expense IMO when doing a house up. I'll let the pics do the talking. :D

Started with pulling off the Old cabinets

Next up was Pulling apart Everything else, work top units, Sink, dish washer, and washing machine all un plumbed. Oven sat on the floor as we still needed to eat, well i did, lol IanW kindly came down and helped that day, although the slacker is eating a bounty :D

Tiles pulled off wall, oh god they were hideous, :(

As it stands now, waiting on the guys arriving on Wednesday to install the new one. With the prep work all done by me, the guys said they will be able to install it all in one day. :D I've been without a kitchen now for over a week. :(

Will update with pics once the new stuff is in. :D

I'm sure it'll all be worth it once finished :)

Bet it's costing a fair bit, though!

Not as bad as i thought TBH, but still a fair bit of cash... :(

ive got a yellow bucket just like that  seriously though looking good matey!

there great buckets, take loads and strong as hell, cheers mate, getting there. :D

Not bad - how long did it take you (in hours) to get the kitchen to that state?

You didnt fancy installing the new kitchen yourself?

pulling it all apart was easy, good couple of hours. The repair work took a bit of time etc. I reckon in total about 16hrs here and there. as i did it over certain days etc.

Don't mind ripping it all out and prep'ing it, but will leave all the install to the guys who do it for a living, it was part of the price, so i'll let them do the hard work. :D

Tell me about it mate. Just had a new kitchen in mine, ripped the old one out, totally. New units, new appliances, imported the tiles - and had it all installed. Then set to work on the home office and home cinema. £25k since Christmas - but it's worth every penny.

I did mine about 5yrs ago, ripped it all out, chased the walls out (brick) for the electrics and installed the new kitchen.

The only thing I didn't do was the floor tiles, I've seen so many shocking installs of kitchens by so called professionals that I knew i could do it better myself. It's stood the test of time and 5yrs on it looks as good as the day I finished it :)

I even did the electrics properly and got a sparky mate to check it out and sign it off.

Yeah kinda what i had in mind, i wanted the kitchen as a blank canvas so to speak so the guys could do a better job of the installation. I'll be here when there doing it, and if i dont like something there doing, i'll be quick to make them know about it. :D

Looks like you've been busy lol, i do this for a living so its nice to see someone else doing it for a change. Just a thought while your at this stage ( not sure if you have got more done since taking the pics? ) But while you have the chance, i noticed you have the boiler condensing pipe going out through the wall, and im assuming this goes outside? As your probebly aware these freeze up in the winter and when the water freezes in the pipe it shuts the boiler down, and can be a real PITA. Now its fine to run these into the internal waste pipe, so might just be an idea to run it behind the units and couple it into the waste in the sink unit.

Just a thought, while your able to get to it.
