ballsdeep
did my brakes yesterday and spotted this. picture is the gearbox where it joins the engine, it looks like its been like this for a long time, but hasnt been so bad that it leaves puddles of oil on the floor. why is there a hole in my gearbox, its a 5sp man and how do i check the oil level? D8MOA
rear main engine oil seal..... the hole is there so the gearbox dosnt fill up with oil if a seal does go... or poss for a airvent due to the flywheel spinning
ballsdeep
thanks sounds expensive, is this something i can tackle myself or do i need to get the experts in?
D8MOA
Well depends how technical you are... It involves removing the gearbox/clutch/flywheel then replacing the seal then refitting! A workshop should do this in approx 3/4 hours at home you would be looking at 6+ I'd say
