Need help from somone that is confident with database/sql/php stuff ?

Well, I managed to break my site last night. It runs wordpress and I was updating it and it hung, I left it ages but it never recovered so eventually refreshed it and now I cant get access through wordpress, so have to remove certain database files etc from the host server but I've never really done any database/sql stuff.

 

It seems fairly straight forward, removing a few files then re-saving new files from the downloaded zip file, but I dont just want to attempt it myself then realise I've deleted something I shouldnt and make things even worse

 

Wouldnt have thought it should take anymore then an hour tops
