The-Plethora
Ah one of the first decent days when you can actually get outside and tinker with the car. I wanted to fit the alloy expansion tank that had been sitting in my cupboard for the best part of 18 months. As you can see things are a little too tight and presume the battery positive terminal is bad news that close to the BOV? (would it spark?). I have wrapped it in tape for the meantime to be careful and might see if I can pick up a third party battery tray to move it out of the way a little better. Anyway whilst fitting the tank I encountered a huge bunch of what must be aftermarket wiring stuffed into various places and basically I want to tidy it up, remove it or splice it together a lot more neatly than it is currently (just chucked in) Now as you can see the battery positive terminal has an extra connection coming from it (thick blue wire), I am presuming these are for HID lights that the car came with? If you look at the picture above again you can see I have about a clear 3 foot of cable that doesnt appear to do much coming out of the bonnet and touching the ground at the bottom right. Better view of the wiring below.. A couple of plugs go off into these doo-hickys, are these fuses for the HID lights or something else? It does appear to connect back to the stock loom so I am wondering, do HID lights need more voltage than the standard lights and so thats why it has the 12V feed or is this something completely unrelated to the lights? It's a bit dark now so cant check further tonight but want to crack on with this tomorrow. Cheers for any help.
