kniff_666
Hello guys, Thinking of changing the positionand style of my scabby old fog light because it looks completely wrong. from the picture below its not clear but it does look rubbish (circled in red) I am thinking of replacing it with a flush fit one in the middle of the bumper under the number plate (red cirlce) or either side of the number plate (blue circle). thinking of using this item off ebay: Has anyone done this before? I am a little concerned about a couple of things: 1. I think that cutting a hole in this point of the bumper will weaken it (structurally risking the curves of it) 2. if it looks rubbish then i will have a hole in the bumper 3. access behind the bumper to allow room for the light and to fit without taking the bumper off please let me know your thoughts Edited March 23, 2012 by kniff_666 (see edit history)
jonc
Take off the naff one and wire into the rear light cluster like most of us have done. You can either go into one of the brake lights or reversing light. Just search rear fog light and the wiring diagrams will be there. Most of the hard work is done with yours because the wiring from the switch has already been done Just found this thread which will help http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?80479-Fog-Light-Conversions-for-beginners&highlight=rear+fog+light+wiring Edited March 23, 2012 by jonc (see edit history)
SteveR
Ditch the nasty add-ons completely and do the fog light mod.

kniff_666
Thanks for the help guys. How long will it take roughly and do i need to be a master electrician to do it? I am more keen on the mechanical aspect of working on cars than the electrics.

Colin-mkiv
I need someone to do this mod for me....I was simply going to put a red bulb in one of my reverse lights and wire it up to the foglight switch.

That is ok for the MOT, too, but it's a bit shabby TBH. That's how mine is wired up (was when I bought it) but I'm going to change it back to 4 brake/rear lights the first chance I get. Colin-mkiv
Yeah, I know its the simplest means to an end....But I hate doing wiring. I'm just not onfident with it. I can do absolutely anything else on the main oily bits but wiring is my achiles heel.
