He would have been 52 today i wonder how his career would have went if the tragic accident never happenned at Imola 1994 :(. Such a sad loss to the sport his in car footage at monaco was insane the man was a true talent. I will be watching Senna tonight on dvd great documentary R.I.P Ayrton Senna.

Yes he was a true great of his time.

If he never crashed that day then I would guess that he would have had to fight hard to keep that Williams at the top of the standings in that season. The effort he had to put in to get it on pole at Imola showed his depth of talent, but I'd guess he would have struggled to have an easy season that year. It would have been a close finish to the season.

The Imola race looked like at race pace he was able to stay ahead and would have probably won that race, and I'm guessing that because Schumacher was just starting to make his mark in F1 that Senna would probably have taken the 1994 Championship also.

But would he have stayed with Williams?....depends if they could have tailored the car for him during the season and also for him to be happy enough with the car to commit to the following season.

The Renault engine during that period of F1 was a very strong unit, so the cars to be in for the 1995 season were Williams or Benetton.

Schumacher won the drivers title in 1994 year with a Beneton Ford (before they changed to Renault in 1995) and Damon in the other Williams did well for 2nd.

I would think if Senna had not stayed with Williams then he might have gone to Ferrari the following season. And this would probably depend on how committed Ferrari would have been to Ayrton's championship demands. Because I don't think that Ayrton would have wanted to have such a strong team mate as Schumacher in the Benetton as it would maybe have created a Senna-Prost situation as he had encountered in previous seasons.

So hard to try and predict what might have happened as anything could happen in F1 (and usually does).

Although Senna is my favourite driver in my history of watching F1, I do think that Schumacher raised the level and brought F1 in to the modern age of what is required by an F1 driver in terms of fitness and overall skill and talent.

Very true. Would be interesting all the same to see what would have happened though i think as technology progressed and tire tech Senna could have really turned up the heat.
