For that price, go Honda. You'd get yourself an EP3 Civic or DC2 Integra for your budget.

The DC2 is great for fuel economy compared to the rx8 too and lots of fun!

Oh, and being a Honda they're fairly bullet proof :D (the engines anyway!)

Don't do the rx, bad idea, I have a ep3 type r as a daily! Great alround car tbh, quick, great handling, reasonable tax and mpg, yes a lot of people have them but there's a reasOn for that, probably the best hot hatch of the last 10 years.

Only other one I would consider is buy a golf tdi and get it chipped and mapped, they fly!

My mate rang me a couple of werks ago asking what he should buuy having between £3k - £4k. The criteria was: coupe, japanese, quick and something girls would love. Obviously my first answer was Supra! He said no, because I've got one, and it'd be too expensive to run. He then informed me he'd seen a 55k mile RX8 for £3k. Told him to steer clear because 1, the engines are sh!te, 2, parts are mega money, 3, they're juicy and 4, it's done 55k without having had a rebuild. Why's the bloke selling it? New baby. So has it been looked after? Yeah, the guys got a really really good job so isn't short of money. Really loves the car but not baby friendly. So to summerise, the blokes got a 4 door coupe, that he loves and he could well afford to keep? Sounds like he knows it's about to go pop!!

My mates bought it, and has already called to complain about it! I'd rather eat my own liver!!

My mate that I hardly ever see has one, but each time I see him, he moans about it. The only thing he likes are the looks.

I was looking at them before I got the idea of a Supra and was put off, even by a dealer that was selling one. He told me to avoid it due to the fuel economy (or lack thereof) and general problems.

No no & no.

As mentioned above, get a EP3 type R for the same money. Loads of space, fantastic to drive! Pretty good on fuel considering the engine, interior & seats are lovely.

I sold mine dirt cheap as I brought another Supra so she had to go. If I needed a daily, then I'd go & pick another one up.

owned a 08 RX8 and whilst its a looker I wouldn't recommend it especially if it's a daily. Engine needs to be properly warmed up, doesn't like short journeys plus you need to rev nuts out of the car to have some fun. Oh... horrible on mways as at 80mph you are sitting at over 6000 revs...

I used to sell these at a Mazda franchise, at the time they were new out and we had a lot of hype around them, unfortunalty they are rubbish. I love the looks, the drive and power delivery but buying a second hand one is a massive mine field, if they have not be cared for properly they are a time bomb, the tips wear, the coil packs go causing the cats to die, all in, damn expensive, plus the fuel consumption which is frankly hilarious. Only buy a mint one that has full service history from someone who knows what they are talking about or from a dealer with a warranty, a bloody thorough warranty.
