mattdavies
Tonight I have been out and purchased my self some new wheels They are Work CR-Kai 18x10 ET20 all round. I believe I may get away without work on the rear.......BUT....how much too big are they for the front ? What work would be required ? listy
Good question! Personally I always go for wider wheels on the rear and thinner on the front, as im sure this aids with handling. I'm almost sure having wide fronts will reduce the steering response. Not 100% but sure someone will be along to correct me soon
SteveR
It'll also affect how much steering lock you can put on - 10" fronts will rub the arches before you hit full lock.
Nic
The rears will stick out past the wheel arch by around 12mm, the fronts will stick out past the wheel arch by around 25mm.
mattdavies
Ok then well I have found someone selling the same wheels in 18x8.5 et 30, which is good for the front. So now either need to invest then split the sets or find some one who wants a set and share the cost.

Which ones.
pedrosixfour
I've a pair of genuine Cr Kai, 17" x 9" ET+44 in bronze if they are of any use to you. I realise they are an inch smaller in diameter than yours but I've seen a couple of members with this arrangement. I can arrange shipping no problem. lamboyello
9 on the front 10 on the rear, perfect
mattdavies
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3713433.htm, these are the other wheels. I would want 18's and the size these are is near on perfect. The ones i currently have ( 18x10 ) are in need of a refurb with no tyres but are a similar colour to the ones advertised. mattdavies
I am currently looking into getting the back milled down by an engineering firm so they will sit under the arches.
pedrosixfour
I am currently looking into getting the back milled down by an engineering firm so they will sit under the arches. Be very careful there Matt. A maximum of a mill or two shaved off is possible/safe but if Nic's calculations are correct and 12mm needs to be removed in order for the rims to be legal under stock arches then you run the very possible risk of weakening the rims to the point that they simply won't cope. There simply won't be enough material left at the bolt holes, between the mounting surface and the taper, to carry the car's weight.
mattdavies
The amount of poke you have from under the arch is a grey area in regards with the law, having spent some time in the VW euro scene I know that 12mm is more then likely alright. But I will look into the amount of metal

Colin-mkiv
Also in Skyline GTR fitment at those dimensions. I'd spray em up an sell em on mate, seems like a lot of hassle to get them fitted when you could make enough selling them to enable the purchase of some that'll go straight on your car. Colin-mkiv
Those are Rota's mate, not work CR kai... They are Work wheels though mate.
jay200bhp
you need to ring noel or paul fast and beg for 24hr delivery of new arches front and rear but to be hnest you could use it as a boat anchor again to the look wrecked! good refurb on them and split em seems best option
Callaway Motorsport
They are Work wheels though mate. Hmm, will have a look. to me they look like rota's. Because Work never made them in 10J either. Alot of things point away from work wheels on that pic. Callaway Motorsport
Ok i can see the logo on there now on that pic. Weird looking model though, I would suggest posting up a clearer pic and the size inside the wheel. most models look totally different + were made in max width of 9,5. good luck with the search for swap/ different arches. But like James said, i would get them refurbed and coated, they will look great after that...
mattdavies
Well I have fitted them on the back and currently in negotiations with a fella for the fronts, they fit well with a 255, will need the arches rolling if I want to lower the car
