SteveR
Also something about no insurance which strangely has been removed from PH article now. Probably speculation - it's a 2 day track day going on at the moment I believe, i.e. closed to the general public, so it's NOT a public road under such conditions and therefore no road insurance policy will cover cars/drivers for that. However, he may have taken out trackday cover - who knows.

scotty71
Apparently it's only 650hp, the one Ryan was working on was over 850hp. this one is a litchfield tuned car.... could be 750 if stage 5 tuned or even more
SteveR
Wont matter, bits are cheap for them !!!!! He needs a LOT of bits to put that back together! Ker-ching! Not to mention the inevitable Armco bill he'll have to pay before they give him his passport back, owch.

jonathanc
I've never been to the Ring but have heard its wise sorting some form of insurance out just in case you have a crash. The recovery costs are shocking and I think they won't let you leave until you've settled the bills.
little num
I crashed back in 2009 and they wanted my passport before they would let me go, lucky my mate had is credit card to hand so payed the barrier bill £2500 for 24 meters and 3 main supports, and then they took my car to a holding place down the road. Went back the week after to collect with a hired trailer and the bill for a weeks storage and lifting onto my trailer was £850. Plus the return trip was a pritty penny and no insurance so i had to foot the whole thing, worst of it was my car was a total mess but still wanted it back home. Miguel
From what I heard he was trying to race a Corvette emerging from the pits and completely missed ignored the braking point. That seems to be the case, less of a CPU problem and more of a balls bigger than brain problem. A for commitment into the corners though The article is on Pistonheads if anybody wants a read. 'Doran was apparently running down the pit straight of the GP circuit alongside a heavily tuned Corvette and, according to the driver of the latter, when he braked for the tight hairpin at the end Doran came past with his foot still hard on the gas. And at that point all the rallycross skills in the world weren't going to save him.'
Stephen G
i have seen him doing rallycross and he is a good driver but thats on a circuit thats mybe 1 or 2 mile long with a handfull of corners at the most the ring is a different beast. Was he not gonna do pikes peak in a rs200 with something like 900bhp

Graham1984
I wish I had the picture of my mates 205 when we hit a tree head on at 50 odd mph.... It looked like a coke can had been stood on by a T-Rex.
