I put it in there wrong thread Kamasupra

I'd imagine alot of people would like to work with you Dude - Including me!

It can be good fun at our place but also hectic and stressful especially when I start getting stressed and shouting !!! thats something that you need to get used to, nothing ever goes right and the garage trade is a VERY hard arena to earn a decent living in, I only stick with it because I enjoy it !!!!

I enjoy working on cars, But its totally different at college i just would like to experiace whats it like to work at a real garage (If that makes sense). Do you own that 1024bhp supra?

I broke it up and bought the Daywalker, a tube frame drag car that weighs 900 kgs, looking to run 6's when we get if built, till then its the black street car with 600 hp for now !!! You can always come down and hang out/help if you just want experience .

Yeah im not even bothered if it's voluntree work tbh, Just would like more experiance :) Because at college you dont really learn that much. Also a few of my mates work in garages and they have all said that they learn more at work than they do at college.

Sounds a quality bit of kit though, Stewart williams is building a new 6 second supra :)

This is very true. I was working in a garage for a week, and I learnt more there in that one week than I did in 3 months at college. Also, I often found the way the college will teach you to do something, and the way a garage want it done are very different.

I'd take up Dude's offer and go and get some experience there. It'll do you wonders being at a place like that :)

I know Stu and I bought our cars at almost the same time, he told me about mine as it was no good for a street legal car due to geometry being wrong, mine wont run in anger til next year Stu will run this t=year hopefully.

A garage is where you learn. Being at college is like doing a driving test. College teaches you how to pass the tests, as does a driving test. Working in a garage is where you learn how to use what you've learnt in tests etc in the same way that you only learn how to drive when you've passed your test.

My college was pants, it's only through working at a garage that did what we did i learnt as much as i did, and has put me where I am today. And as Dude says, money's shite! Unless your name's dude. And you're as clever as him!!

It'll definitely be an expirience alright :p All joking aside, you should think about John's very kind offer; it's not often they come about and I would would have jumped at something like that in my college days.

Sometimes i just feel like dropping out of college - but whats the point when i havent got a job in a garage. If only you lived closer to me dude

Don't drop out. Just stick it out, unless you can get a job at a maindealer. They're crap to work for, but you will get good training. I went to Ford with level 3 and 5 years under my belt, they sent me on courses, on which I stayed in a 5 star hotel and got fed for a week at a time, and came home with Diploma's!

I'm doing alright now I'm self employed, earning 3 times as much as I did at the garages, but you won't get a better experience than somewhere like Austec. It'd be worth it if you came up once or twice a week. Those guys have probably forgotten more than your tutors will ever know mate.

Hi Dude

I am Chris Bailey's dad - I like his style and am truly impressed he is putting his name out there. Will be seeing you on sunday so perhaps we can arrange a days works experience for him. Will mean me being a taxi but hey I dont need much of an excuse to get the Supe out.
