Chris Bailey
My mum was following me and dad in the supra earlier on today and she said she noticed some black smoke under acceleration, She said it wasnt alot of black smoke just a little puff. Could this be leading to something serious or just something minor?
dan294
Its probably just the carbon build up in the exhaust being blown out when coming on boost, if it's just a little puff, I wouldn't be too worried. My Impreza used to be like that if I drove off boost for ages then gave it a bit of stick.
safcdixon
when did you last change the plugs? it could be that the plugs are dirty, whack some new ones in it.
Chris Bailey
The plugs were changed at Whifbitz like 2 weeks ago so its not them.
Chris Bailey
You could be right Dan294 because we was only crusing down to whifbitz at like 80mph so my mum could keep up lol.
Marty
Black is fuel, so its overfueling a little, i wouldn't be too concerned. It's blue'ish smoke that you want to worry about Edited March 19, 2012 by Marty (see edit history)
Chris Bailey
We get a tiny bit off blue smoke on start up, But the car has only done around 59000 miles so i dont think it will be the valve stem seals. We have just dropped the car off to whifbitz to sort out this annoying oil leak so im hoping that when they cure the oil leak it will sort out the blue smoke situation. dan294
Blue smoke on startup is likely to be valve stem seals from what I gather, am sure Whifbitz will sort it.
Chris Bailey
Its only a little puff of blue smoke and then is just goes, It doesnt puff blue smoke when on boost.
dan294
Its only a little puff of blue smoke and then is just goes, It doesnt puff blue smoke when on boost. That usuallly indicates valve stem seals, if its at cold start. Smoke on boost is turbo seals I think
sideexitsupra
Will be the valve stem seals on start up. Mine has only done 60k miles and they are on this years list of jobs. It's a head off job for Whifbitz to do this.
Swampy442
Blue smoke, valve stem seals, black smoke is over fuelling. Nothing to wory about.

marc_p
The blue smoke is your valve stem seals, mine had around 62k on the clock when they went, I would get them done sooner rather than later as when they start going I found they went quickly. dude
The car could have done 1000 miles its the fact they go hard that makes em fail and the rubber seals will go hard driven or not.
