DodgyRog
Jen is thinking of getting rid of the Type R, due to the running costs and I think the Fiat 500 Abarth is the main contender for her, so just want to know if anyone knows much about them We have found one at the local Fiat Abarth dealer, with loads of extras on it including the Funky (Pearl) White paint, like in the top pic, the pics are not the one we are looking at, but it's exactly the same, except for the extras
Tyson
Two of my mates have these both with the same colour scheme as yours. Great little cars but I prefer the one with the esse esse kit as the normal car sounds a bit damp.

jonathanc
Hmm, don't Abarths come with xenons? Funky little cars and I've heard cheap road tax too?
Abz
You tonnes of them around in London! Think some of them are £35 a year tax! Though I don't think that is the Abarth models.

Though I don't think that is the Abarth models. yeah those are the normal 500s. I have a colleague with a "specced up" 500 which looks almost like an Abarth and she is paying that in road tax! Insurance is also a bargain on those cars If running cost is the main criteria I would then think the 500 is a good idea. Cheap and cheerful! Easy to park too lol... DodgyRog
On the Abarth Tax is £165 a year instead of the £260 she is paying on the Civic Insurance is over £100 a year cheaper and fuel is about 10 mpg better maybe slightly more, depending how often she drives on Boost (can't believe she will have a Turbo before me:taped:)

tooquicktostop
A Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider would be far more desirable IMO
DodgyRog
A Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider would be far more desirable IMO I don't think I have any chance of convincing Jen to buy anything over 5 years old without all modcons She is fairly certain on the Fiat 500, she was thinking about the Twin Air with the 2 cylinder 878cc Turbo engine, but then she saw the Abarth with the red leather interior, enough said lol I don't really know anything about them, other than them being a blown 1.4 with about 140bhp and 150lbs/ft of torque in a car the size and weight of a rollerskate
Ian W
Is it wrong to want one of these for myself?
marbleapple
You'll miss the space the Type R has. They are surprisingly big inside compared to most cars I have driven. Re the Abarth... I love the look but are they are dodgy as the rest of Fiat's line up?

I love the look but are they are dodgy as the rest of Fiat's line up? Space isn't a major issue, as I have a Pug 406 Estate for space requirements Any specifics on problems on the Abarth 500, just from what I can find online the 500 range doesn't seem to have any major issues or the normal build quality problems of previous Fiat's
st3ven1
My girlfriend just got a new Twinair. Road tax is £0! Surprisingly nippy little car, circa 10s to 60. Also, I'm pretty sure the Fiat 500 shares the same platform as the new Ka. She has a Twinair + so it has all the toys, electric everything, climate control unit, black leather seats, blue and me, matt black alloys. Excuse the rubbish phone picture, but couldn't see the screen when it was taken. All in, it's an excellent little car. I even quite like driving it! Makes a really distinctive growl when you get up the rev range.

I think they are cute but I just don't like Fiat's build quality.
