KamaSupra
DO NOT READ THIS POST OR THREAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE LATEST EPISODE OF THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 2 ON FRIDAY 16/03/12!! I just watched the latest episode of the Walking Dead and I'm a bit confused. At the end of the episode Rick kills Shane with his knife after a bit of a confrontation. Moments later Rick is talking to his son Carl, when Shane suddenly gets up and is a walker. Just before Shane bites Rick, Carl shoots Shane in the head killing Shane again just in time. My question is how did Shane become a walker, as he was not bitten or scratched?
Sam Handwich
If you ever read the comics it explains how the virus works on dead people regardless of them being bit or not

Supra Gaz
I love this series, its the best thing on, Shane wasn't the first one to die and come back without being bitten, the lad they had tied up came back too in the same episode, shortly before being mushed in his noggin! RCK10
I haven't read the comics, but I guessed that the virus was airborne, but some how it only turns you into a walker if you are dead, whether your bitten or not. Shane was a ****, but he was a good character for the show. I guess it's probably going to be some sort of war between this other group next. MrRalphMan
Yeah, the comics are pretty awesome and much more gritty then the series has been up to a few episodes ago. In the comic Shane gets it in a different way, twice! :-) Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

Supraman
Yeh, cant remember what episode but it was a few before where it happens to someone else who wasn't bitten so kinda guessed from that the virus is airborne.
ubersonic
Am I seriously the only one who thought the second series is absolute garbage compared to the first? it really shows that they replaced all the writers between series (which shouldn't really make a difference as their just copying form a comic, their not writers their tracers!) but it was so slow, like 5 episodes to walk down a road and find a farm, 10 episodes to hang out at the farm, then OMG something actually happens :O aaaaaaand the series goes on hiatus for a few months. Terminator: the Sarah Conner chronicles gradually descended into boredom to the point I realised I was only watching it in the hope that the next epsode would be where it got good again but with TWD the was literally a jump straight form series 1's awesome to series 2's as boring as possible
Sam Handwich
Well the third series will be bad ass! Michonne (the best character in the comics) is going to be in it. She cuts around with a sword and 2 zombies on chains with there arms and jaws cut off. I wont let to much go from the comics but if there aanything to go by it should be one hell of a series! KamaSupra
I forgot I'd done this thread!! Well we found out in the latest episode how Shane had become a walker, cheers for explsining why before I watched it though That Michonne showing up at the end was good, as I wasn't expecting her as I've never read the comics. I can't wait for the next series already to see what her story is about. 2 zombies on chains with no jaws or arms was unexpected
Matt H
The end of the second season was very good. That character with the sword and zombie entourage looked mental. Going back to the original Q, Rick explains near the end of the episode that everyone is infected (a carrier of the virus) and that the chap in the lab compound from the first season told him this. The virus must only take hold upon death. I also agree that the second season was not as good as the first. My main gripes were: 1) Living in this house on a farm.... everything happened in and around the farm, which wasn't very exciting. the whole searching, travelling, holding on for hope and not knowing what was round the corner was lost with them just camping out in one location; 2) Everyone's reactions to each other’s actions, however insignificant or unavoidable were blown well out of proportion. Characters take it in turn to act completely irrationally then totally rationally. That was very frustrating.
MrRalphMan
Totally agree, the first half (before the writers break) was pretty slow and pants. The episodes afterwards were pretty hardcore and you can see where Rick is going in relation to the comics, where he goes absolutely ape poop...
