JMB
Hi all, I am going to install a FMIC (whifbitz:eyebrows:) but I was wondering if I should not install a new radiator or add a fan between the fmic and the radiator. I read on Internet that the fmic is a "cause" of overheating because of less air flow to the radiator. ThE fact is that my car is an auto, so I am totally afraid of changing the radiator as it cools my transmission too.. Advices are more then welcome
Guest hockysa
are you doing track work?
Swampy442
No you dont need a new rad, or to add a fan, the car will not overheat by just adding an inter cooler, unless you have an underlying problem, like a weak viscous fan or something. Swampy442
Lots of drag racing?
Nic
You don't need to fit a new radiator when you fit a FMIC, however if your current radiator is in poor condition then the reduction in air flow could cause overheating issues.
JMB
Yes lots of drag racing... This is the purpose of the car Ok, I ll first fit the FMIC and I'll check the temp gauge, by the way can I trust the OEM gauges ?
Swampy442
If you're doing lots of drag racing I assume you would already have an updated radiator, you will certainly need a great big auto box fluid cooler.

I should have one but I am afraid of doing this mod because of the auto box cooler... Where to put it ? How do I install it ? Which cooler ? Etc... Swampy442
The cooler is just another radiator, depending on your bumper you could put it between the inter cooler and the rad, or in front of one of the front wheels. Traders here like Lee at SRD or Paul at Whifbitz sell hih quality oil cooler kits with instructions

GTR Fever
don't know if this would help but i changed my rad to a Mishimoto 3-core and at the same time installed the Mishimoto transmission cooler. Before i changed the rad my car's temp gauge would go up to 3/4 (the daily temp. here is 34 degrees celcius though) cools perfectly fine now, both engine and transmission
