SupraP-Z
Hey all, ever since i had the car the aerial hasnt worked. Bought a new headunit with the required Autoleads harness adaptor and wired it all in, everything works except for the friggin aerial. Took the dash apart again to have a nosey, and after doing some research on here i found out that i dont have the antenna relay control unit (Brown box on top of ABS unit) Here are some pics of how its all connected up: First multiplug which is meant to be connected to the antenna relay but isnt: Second plug where they connect to the 2 blue wires for the aerial: This then connects to the 3rd multiplug which takes both feeds of the aerial and puts them into 1: After that its a direct connection to the headunit. So im sure up till now all the wiring is correct. Now here is where im stumped because the relay is what would be switching the lives and earths, for the aerial to go up the wires would be earthed (0v - 12v), and for the aerial to go down it would be live (12v - 0v) atm both wires (blue and pink - red and black on the connector thats meant to go in antenna relay) are actually switched lives: The control wires run all the way back to the aerial...now what i need to know is what do i cut/join/splice together to make the aerial do the job it was intended to do? I can make the aerial go up...but it will stay up, dont know how to make it go down again...any help appreciated, this has stumped me completely!!! merckx
I would think you would have to use some relays if you're using the stock aerial, an aftermarket aerial may have them integrated. Why don't you just buy a used antenna relay, maybe of Keron?
suprasurrey
I think you need to be sure that the aerial works before splicing/cutting/joining wires. As said above, I`d try a stock relay first and go from there.
SupraP-Z
The aerial definately works...albeit very slowly. Its not been opened in over a good 5-6 years maybe even more (previous owner said it had never worked). I had to give it a helping hand to lift up...but im sure with a bit of grease it should sort itself out if i can get the control box. I wanted to see if there was a way of bypassing the relay at all,,,but i guess for now its the only option - cheers guys
