CJ
I have just come home after meeting with the oncologist. The meeting was scheduled to discuss the results of last weeks CT scan which was done to determine how successful or otherwise the past 3 months of chemotherapy has been. As you can imagine, the past 24 hours or so has been a little stressful with me wondering what she was going to tell me. Bear in mind that this is the lady who, when I met her in October, told me that my condition was terminal and that I had 6 - 12 months to live! I sort of comforted myself by thinking it couldn't get much worse but deep down hoped that it was better. I took my ex wife along with me to ensure that I heard what the Doc was saying and not what I wanted to hear. After a wait of 45 minutes (which felt much, much longer ), we went in to see her. After a few pleasantries she got to the point (which, I am sure you would like me to ) and told me that the chemotherapy had been very successful. She explained that the tumour has shrunk considerably, the lymph node cancer cells have decreased dramatically and there is no evidence of spread to ant other areas. To be honest, it could not have gone any better. I know I cannot be cured but to hear that the cancer has diminished and there was no spread was music to my ears. I now have to go back to see her in 2 months for a follow up. No scans or anything else planned - just a general meeting to see how I am feeling. I am one happy chappy sat here right now

CJ
Good news indeed! So what's the treatment plan going forward? Regular medication to keep it in check I presume? No meds now for a while. The next meeting is a follow up in 2 months which, in her words, is just to see how I am feeling

CJ
Thanks for the good wishes folks. Joshua and I have decided to celebrate with a Chinese takeaway later. I would have a drink but the chemo tablets don't finish until Thursday night!
