SupraTT
Can someone please tell me if the UK MKIV 6Spd TT clutch is the same as whats needed for a J-Spec TT6 ? Also what EXACTLY needs to be replaced ? pressure plate and clutch assembly obviously, but what about spigot bearings / throwout bearings ? "snap rings" !?! etc ? Its all very confusing :o( I believe i really only need to replace the clutch plates and spigot bearing from what i have read in an earlier post ? Thanks Michael
Guest Martin F
I can tell you that they are exactly the same, but as for ALL the parts that will be needed i'll leave that for somebody who has actually done the job. My guess is you won't know exactly what needs to be replaced until you strip it down and inspect the parts (i.e. Flywheel), and we all know that Toyota will be closed that day
SupraTT
Ok thanks, Does anyone have a part number for the clutch or recommend anywhere else besides Toyota that i can go to ? Michael
Guest Martin F
Paul Whiffin can supply the RPS clutch which receives a lot of favourable comments on the US list. http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/suprapower.htm

SupraTT
Got a not bad price on a OE Toyota Job and went with that, but what i would like to ask now is, they told me i needed the Clutch Disk, Plate/Cover, Bearing, Pilot Bearing and some sort of "hub" that the bearing goes into !? Do i actually need the "hub" replaced as well, or are they just after an easy £45 extra for the part not needed. Also how much on average should it cost me to get replaced ? Cheers Michael
Guest Martin F
I can't vouch for which parts need replacing, but IMHO i would rather replace whatever parts whilst i had the box out. As i would be pissed beyond belief if some poxy bearing failed after going to all the hassle of replacing the clutch. Did they say anything about the flywheel ? SupraTT
Said that Flywheel really only *needs* to be replaced if its cracked . defaced / scored badly Michael PS....But do i really need this £40 hub ?????
Flavio
Always replace your flywheel when replacing your clutch, whether it looks good or not. You will regret it if you don't. When replacing your clutch you need a new flywheel, new flywheel bolts, new throwout bearing, new pilot bearing, new snap rings. Syed Shah
Hey Flavio, I thought you had deserted us  When did you go get the single?
Flavio
Syed, Work started mid January, got all the bugs (i.e. wrong plugs causing massive misfires at high boost) sorted out two weeks ago. Now I need to find a dyno that can handle 600rwhp or so! The car is simply fantastic with the SP57, everyone who has been it has an ear to ear grin after a little demonstration. If you want to read about the installation and the problems that were encountered go to www.supras.nl under Modifications. I have to thank Arnout and his mates for the splendid job they did. Syed Shah
600rwhp!!!!!!!!! That must be one the the most powerful Supras in Europe! I thought the sp57 was a *relitively* small single? Thanks for the link
Flavio
I got a very conservative 540rwhp at 1.6 bar so 600rwhp at 2 bar is not unrealistic. The SP57 is the smallest single turbo out there but for now I don't have a need for anything bigger, it spools just as fast as the stock twins in TTC mode and you have massive top end power if you crank up the boost. Just make sure your fuel system is up to the task. Soon there will be two more SP57's in Holland, one in a MKIV and one in a MK3 with a MKIV engine. Flavio (Edited by Flavio at 9:30 pm on Feb. 26, 2002) Sounds luvverly - what's the lag like? I've checked out your site as it's got some useful fuel injector swapping info. I bet the MkIII with the MkIV engine is Arnout's, yes? And one last thing, I hate to sound whiny, and it is a lovely picture, but can you not put the piccy of your car onto the bottom of your posts? It's a bit big and a bit WOBby... -Ian
Flavio
Ian, Yes the MK3 is Arnout's car. Sorry about the pic, I will only post it once per topic in the future :-) Flavio
Ian C
Cool on both counts - Arnout's MkIII was mad enough with the 7M-GTE in it. A 600bhp 2JZ slapped inside should be entertaining... I would like to see that at Billing -Ian
Flavio
Arnout's car is supposed to be ready by the end of April. I'll probably go to Billing as well and Fast Frankie (the other soon to be SP57) hopefully too.
