Scutch0
Quite a sensitive question, so I don't want to upset anyone by asking this, but do people still use locknuts? I got some d1 blue extended wheelnuts a few weeks ago, and they look great other than my mcguard locknut on each wheel... Was chatting to my mate who works at BMW a few weeks ago and he insisted that people don't tend to use locknuts that much anymore, just wondered what everyone else's take is on this subject? After browsing a few old forums I noticed that a lot of people using d1's don't use locknuts at all!

Just seen the new M5 on Top Gear and that had a locking wheel nut, so he obviously didn't know that
listy
I use one per wheel. Better safe than sorry
Scutch0
Yeah that's what I thought, it's a shame really, I used to have a set of rays nuts with the seven sided security nut, but I stupidly let them go when I sold my Glanza, seriously regretting it now
stevie_b
I use locking nuts. It's the same with any target of theft: if a thief wants your wheels badly enough, he'll have them. Usually, theft is opportunistic and simply making your alloys harder to nick than the ones on the car parked next to yours is good enough. wile e coyote
Was thinking this when i get some new nuts, thinking when at show just swap the locking one
Terminator
It is easy to by locking wheel nut removal tools, so if you have high value wheels and someone has a customer for them, a determined thief will take your wheels regardless of what locking nuts you have. Josh
Check a recent thread I started on it. There's a company on Ebay that sell them and they're all locking ones. In fact, I'll find the link. Edit - Here you go; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-x-RED-Alloy-Wheel-Tuner-Nut-Bolt-Key-Lock-Locking-UK-/160605640965?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item2564d79905 Edited March 12, 2012 by Josh (see edit history)
Scutch0
Yeah its a tough one. My wheels aren't especially expensive, or disreable ( I dont think) but I guess it's best to not take te risk. I shouldn't have sold my Glanza with the rays nuts on it! Oh well! I can't use those nuts on mine anyway mate, as tuner nuts normally have a different taper, I used them on my Glanza and was forever snapping studs because of the incorrect taper! Thanks for the heads up anyway!
