Kopite
Yep ours had to go to Thor on a trailer the night before, so arrived at the event on one. would of looked a bit silly towin an empty trailer i suppose
MONKEYmark
some of the set ups the tuners had was unreal. see that blue scooby team think it was roger clark. you know you arrived when you bring your own floor lol its not for the man in the street anymore is it. i dont mind but must be cool taking part in it all. there was loads of trailers in the pits.it was all over too quick. a long build up and over so quick leons car looked well got a good start then so far down track when power cam in it smoked tyres and left about 100 foot of rubber. he has been through it all with his car and deserves everything.wonder what went wrong for him. living at top of bhp ladder sure is a lot of trouble. anyone know when final results will be up? or anyone want to email me there times and i will get to work doing a totb4 section in drag racing list

SimonR
It was a good day out but the food was expensive and 'kin 'orrible. Branners
Some of guys (GTR's & Evo's etc) with trailers were stopping on the industrial estate, unloading them and then driving in. Tut tut Gaz. we were coming up to Elvo first thing in the morning and a Skyline was in a side road turning round...couldnt figure out why. THen we came up behind a 4wd with an empty trailer but with 4 HOOGE tyres and wheels on it...2 and 2 together....I mean why bother trying to hide the fact that it was on a trailer, the event is no longer about road cars, its a spectator event so everybody is doing what they can to win. ANybody see the 'tuner shootout' info? Some time in september at Silverstone, looks like its all the big tuners going head to head round a track... Holly
I think as a Club we should be very proud of how many cars drove there and back! We totally agree! I've got to ask, did the Supra runners drive up, or arrive on a trailer? We drove up late on Saturday from Kent and drove back today (made a weekend of it). How many of the Supras were owned by real "privateers" - not tuners and not closely associated with tuning firms? Totally ours and paid for with LOADS of our 'hard earned'! Christian's best 1/4 mile time 12.09 @ 121 mph. Top speed too disappointing to mention (for a car that's previously done 187).

Holly
that's a new personal best for Christian isn't it? he was runnin on street tyres too wasn't he? Thanks Kopite! Yes it is a personal best, but the 12.09 was his first ever run on drag radials. Yesterday his best on street tyres was 12.56. But his previous P.B. of 12.14 was on streets. wez_p
i could have sworn i watched Andy Robinson's blue Rover Coupe win the FWD 1/4 mile?! he was then supposed to race the CRD Supra but they said his gearbox was shafted & he could race so CRD got a by to the final for overall - or did i just dream that bit?! Ian C
It was a good day out but the food was expensive and 'kin 'orrible. How many of the Supras were owned by real "privateers" - not tuners and not closely associated with tuning firms? Privateer here mate I've written to Chris Mann with an overview of the gripes people are having with the event, he asked me on the day about these things as he is interested in making things better, so I've given him as much constructive feedback as possible. I've covered the food (quality and cost, ridiculous), seating (need more), viewing areas (end of 1/4 and top speed), timing tickets, pit lane marking stuff (including the sheer piss-take of Roger Clark's half-the-bloody-pitlane wankfest), and crowd control. Someone has mentioned to me that it's time that they got the big electronic timing boards set up at the quarter mile mark so people can see the times instantly, like at Pod - I think the event is big enough now that it should be able to invest in hiring those if such a thing is possible... Maybe cream off 1% of the profits of the burger vans to pay for it I've also suggested seperate privateer and tuner classes in some fashion. Us home-built daily drivers can't ever really compete with the highly strung uber-power tuner cars, so why, people are now asking, bother showing up? If that ends up being the case, you would have seen maybe 3 Supras tops instead of 9. Similar story with the other teams I'd imagine. Leon himself said to me "It's pretty much just a case of waiting for the next thing to break"... -Ian
Miguel
100% with you there Ian . How the hell can a private REAL road driver car compete against a race car with a moody tax and MOT on it unless you win the lottery. I know there is currently clases RWD ect ect ...but what about Privateer, power bands, ET bands like every other comp has ? ....and may I add that I did not see one disabled place where they could watch the racing without having to look through someones croch to see it ..but I did see a lot of disabled people up there...think its time a little of the ££ went back in to make it a good all round day. I did enjoy it but it was the crowd and the banter that made it for me not the event.
Ian C
I did enjoy it but it was the crowd and the banter that made it for me not the event. Speaking of which, can I say Jake was very entertaining. I think, in chronological order: The chinese restaurant phonecall "talk like a retard and I'll treat you like a retard" Spilling your pint of guiness And who can forget how he blagged his car into the pit area without a pass And not forgetting you being towed by Matt's car, absolutely hilarious -Ian

MONKEYmark
nice one Ian ask him if the buger vans have a monopoly as it seemd to be the same company. would it not be good if there was some competition for the burger vans. there is plenty of people to sell to. if prices are reasonable and quality is good they wont have a problem selling. the times above track would be great. or a board with up to date times of all classes for people to see. also have you niticed chris mann always goes onto gtr board and lets them know results. he never came on our board to let us know. seems like you have to keep the gtr boys happy like nobody else matters. maybe someone could set up a once or twice a year a big supra event. that way we could see more of the cars we want to see. or maybe open it up for privateers. why dont the club get the bunfights going again, every other month
Miguel
Indeed, if it was not for you helping to decode his lines I would have been lost. As for the pint I think the barman must like the Bin laden style and took a fancy to me for giving me a replacement. Hats of to Jake again for the entertainment . And I also achieved a PB for the fastest I've been in the chair to date ...Tyres need attention as they got a little hot Matt drives nice and smooth But Tel the agressor nearly tore my arm of flooring it in the car park and shot me into the raillings
Matt Harwood
Incidentally, for Mr Monkey of the Mark: 2.409 60foot 12.71 quarter mile @ 123mph 184 1.25mile top speed run Drove home -Ian Drove there, mapped on the strip ( ), drove home. 2.55 60 foot 12.66 1/4 mile @ 126mph My best 1/4 mile terminal speed was 129, which I was quite pleased with. I didn't do a top speed run as I wasn't happy with the fuelling. I'm sure the car is more than capable of 11's, shame the driver isn't Thanks to Mig for all his assistance with diagnosing and changing bits for me, and thanks Jake, for helping put the car back together at the end. (Always good handywork ) I personally thought it was a really good day out and as already said, the camaraderie amongst us this year was great
