Lude
right ive got an anoying whitling sound. its air leeking from somewhere, so ive done a boost test. i initially had leak from intake manifold & throttle body, but now ightened the bolts and that leak is fine. why is the boost gauge only getting as full as 0.5 bar? its not gettin any higher, im using a compressor, and it fills up nice and quick to 0.5, but stays there. ive got soapy water on the boost pipes, vacuums etc, and cant see any bubbles. can anyone give me some tips as im getting a bit worried now, and dont think my local garage will be able to know what to do? when driving the car the second turbo comes in fine, however where normally the blitz BOV will sound when coming off boost now it doesnt. asume this is because the air is escaping before it can get the the bov. ive removed the BOV but still hear this anoying whistle. this has occured since ive removed the intake manifold, and turbo pipes & Vacuums. please help ive been a member on here for 2 years
ashbuster
might sound obvious and you may have checked but i take it all your pipes were fine but did you replace with new gaskets? might be worth stripping it all back out and re-fitting everything
Lude
I used the same gaskets as they ade metal. Ive been thinking of that just strip it again and see if anything changes. What if its the same thouh? I need to get to the sourcebof the issue and i dont know how to pin point. What about TTC mode would that help troubleshoot anything? mellonman
after the amount of times you have tried to fix this its clear to me its past your skills to resolve the issue and maybe its time to bite the bullet and take it to a known garrage, you say the second turbo comes on fine but what does that mean if your not getting over 0.5, i think i can say if you are getting boost leak its probably a vac pipe you put on wrong. read here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35926-The-sequential-system and re do everything you have touched

mellonman
firstly i dont understand how you can feel that the second turbo is working fine if you only get 0.5 boost the only way would be if your getting say 0.2 from the first turbo if you was getting o.5 from the first turbo and then when the second come on and you still had o.5 then i doubt you would feel any difference at all, starting a new thread every time for the same thing does not help as well ! people dont know what you have done before i expect this thread goes down hill fast, all i can say to you is disconect everything you have done and take your time from a turbos system diagram http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13945&d=1112559170 connect it all back up, i suspect a vac pipe to the vsv ebv
Lude
When i say im only getting only 0,5 boost i mean that when im doin a aboost test wiyh a pressure tester not the stock engine driving. Lude
im going to have a look at it tomorrow, ive been speaking to Nevins, the reason why the dump valve isnt sounding is because the vacuum is T'd into the boost controller, he thinks the sound is a vacuum issue rather than boost leak, im guna have a butchers at it tomo and resolve it hope

Robzki
why is the boost gauge only getting as full as 0.5 bar? its not gettin any higher, im using a compressor, and it fills up nice and quick to 0.5, but stays there. ive got soapy water on the boost pipes, vacuums etc, and cant see any bubbles. Have you tried another boost gauge?
Lude
it was only boosting to 0.5 bar when i was putting air into the engine, from a compressor, to do the boost test. ive been out in the car today, the car drives fine it boosts to over 1 bar boost, and the 1st & second turbos come online when they should. holds boost, doesnt feel like a boost leak. but its just making a hissy/whistle, loud spooling noise when the 1st turbo comes online. ive got the BOV working & sounding correct again (i had the vacuum for it Td into the boost controller vacuum, not on its own) as the car is boosting fine, and the second turbo is coming in fine, i think the noise maybe coming from the intake manifold side, or a vacuum, or idle valve etc. ill have a play about with it next week to sort. im still worried though that the hissy whistle noise maybe making the 1st turbo overwork & go bang
Robzki
I don't really understand the issue then if I'm honest. Turbos whistle, its what they do. and you are making full boost so I'm confused
Lude
hmm yea its making full boost, but you can also make full boost with a boost leak. your turbos will just be working extra hard to produce the boost. i think i have a tiny leak somewhere in the engine/vacuums. il get a video up next week when i bring the car out for the summer
