ashbuster
hi guys ive had my cluster out today to scan the dials to send to a company to make new dials in the end i couldnt do it because it has pins in it and i carnt get them out but i have taken my needled out and put them back in the same as they come out and it was well off so i removed the needles and fitted them again while the car was on tickover. im now having a problem and my speedo goes up and sticks to a speed and then goes down its all a mess any ideas what i can do or do i need a new cluster? car is a tt auto jap facelift its seems to stick and then just drop also would this mess my blitz i-color boost controller up? i have to tap into the speed wire from the ecu so it must need to read my speed would the boost controller read the speed form my dials ? so if its wrong could it mess with the controller? just wondering how the ecu would know the speed or would it be fine and its just me getting the wrong speed through the needles Edited March 10, 2012 by ashbuster (see edit history)
Supra Gaz
Check all the connections are good at the back of the cluster, especially where your speed converter is attached, it maybe as simple as you have put the needles on too hard and they have got stuck, it happened to me when messing around a few times. You only need to press them on lightly otherwise they get stubborn.
ashbuster
ive tried hard and softly mate will have to keep trying, i have no patients and i can see myself launching the cluster down the road
merckx
It's a possibility that the new dials face with the holes in for the spindles aren't large enough or aren't centred on the spindles, obviously just make sure that needles when pushed on aren't fouling. ashbuster
i havent put new dials in mate i tried to take them out to have it scanned and sent to a company to make me some dials, and when i come to put the needles back on im having this problem its as if the needle is lazy i was wondering where the ecu gets how fast your going? is it form the dials? i was wondering if its going to mess with my blitz i-color because i have to tap into the speed wire on the ecu ive had another mess with the dials and it is better but just lazy, its not sticking now but when i brake it doesnt start dropping for a split second is this usual i carnt remember lol
