CJ
I am stumped! I use Google mail and have done for ages and so I thought I knew my way around it but I have a problem that has me completely perplexed. I am getting mail showing in the "all mail" folder that doesn't appear in my in box or for that matter, any other folder. I have opened up every available folder I have and still cannot find the unread emails that appear in the all mail folder. What to do next? RobUK
Have you set a filter on you inbox maybe?
CJ
Have you set a filter on you inbox maybe? Nope - looked at that. I also thought that maybe it was email that was being redirected from another gmail account I have but that wasn't the case either. And its not like it's obscure mail. Some is from places like Dabs and ebuyer.
RobUK
When you find this email does it not indicate where it is stored? Sorry might seem obvious or stupid but I'm not a gmail user...

You can only see them in the "All Mail" folder. By looking at them in there, I cannot see where they initially land.

RobUK
When you find one of these email can you "open" it? As this might hold more information like the folder etc it's actually in?? Just a thought

Just a thought Yes, it will open no problem - but no evidence (at least not to me) of where it's situated. Very odd!
AndyT
Just trying a few things CJ. Got a message when moving mail from all mail to bin removes all views of the mail. Have you checked the bin. Also my all mail folder shows which folder the mail is in. Have you upgraded to the new look?
CJ
Sorted! It was a problem with a filter (that I honestly don't remember creating) that had a value to skip in box for promotional and bulk emails.
