Guest smash
I've searched and read a good few threads listing mods required for BPU and they all seem to include restrictor ring and an EBC - I don't get it, why do you need the mechanical boost restriction of the ring if you've got an EBC which will do the job and give more consistent boost surely? Am I missing something? (I must be!)
Gaz6002
The ring prevents over-boosting. If you don't fit it then you'll just boost until something breaks. It isn't unusual to hit 1.8 bar with no restrictor ring. You can't stop that happening. You can raise boost with an EBC, but not lower it. tony tt
Without the ring your turbos will overboost to about 1.6bar and more than likely explode. The ring provides sufficient back pressure to keep them running safely when you remove the cats. Some cars will make 1.2 bar without an ebc some need it to raise boost pressure to reach bpu.
