It exploded on FB last night!

Funny how 24 hours ago no one had a clue even though its been in the news for years now.

I hate to say it but 'Kony' has become the new trend and 99% of people who are posting it alover twitter and facebook are simply following it cause everyone else is and that is just wrong in my opinion.

Unfortunately you are correct about the majority, but one of the reasons for this being made was to raise the awareness because of exactly what you stated.

Unfortunately there will be many people posting it around the world, to as you put it, 'follow the trend', but take some comfort in thinking if just 10% of the people who share the video manage to reach someone who does genuinely cares about the issue then it has still been worth while.

Its almost the same with the petrol strike people, hundreds of thousands all join a facebook page etc etc .. then when it comes down to it they all do nothing.

Exactly that. People today have called me heartless for expressing my opinion on a matter that is technicaly speaking already sorted. Kony hasnt been in Uganda for years now and alot of children taken have been returned and are in rehabilition so all these people who have watched this video and decided to pay the pledge, wear the wrist band and stick up a poster are only doing it to make them feel better about themselves, trying to show people they have done there part. I'm sorry but what exactly have they done?

If people sat and did research then they would know that the Uganda army has control of the situation, all they can do is try to capture him and bring him to justice but who is going to do that exactly? A person who is touched by a video and hits the like button then spams it alover social network sights? I don't think so.

There are alot bigger issues going on in the world like the mash genocide in Syria. I find it absolutely pathetic that people pledge for something that has been going on for years and is pretty much over now. As I said these people who are doing it are doing it on the belief that there making a difference when in actual fact there not.

I apologise if I have offended some of you but I have very strong views on such matters. Rant over.

This makes for interesting reading although I don't agree with all of it.

The fact of the matter is, the issue is complicated. Koni has to go, but I do not think you can just set an arbitrary date and 'fight' back via blogging or sharing videos. The video is great for raising awareness about who Konis is and what he has done. However, arming and training a military force with a dubious track record can have grave consequences and time is a testament to that.

I won't judge anyone for supporting the campaign, that's not my job. I just think people need to invest some time into thinking for themselves before getting swept up in the hype.
