Coolant system help

Hi all, while doing some routine maintenance I have decided the rad cap needs to be changed, while removing the old cap the spring loaded seal has perished and has dropped the front guide into the radiator.

I have tried to grab hold of the offending item with long nose pliers but due to it being almost exactly the same size as the rad opening I have failed miserably, my question is how can I remove the said object, can I leave it in there or will I be able to flush it through the system without it getting stuck in the internals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

This may sound bonkers but if you can get it with long nose pliers and hold it right up

in the neck of the rad and then use long nose mole grips to properly grab it, use one of those mini

snap on style blow torches and heat up the plastic to soften it which should let you pull it

through the hole.

Not bonkers at all, I like your thinking, do you have an engineering background per chance

Since leaving school many moons ago :)

Dont go to mad though and melt the rad and have a bottle of water handy

incase the plastic sets on fire :)
