Parry_10
Just looking for a few ideas on what to do for a towing eye as the do luck bumper sits below the stock ones and I dont want one that sticks out the bumper because imo it ruins the look. Any ideas?
Ian W
What about a strap?
Parry_10
I would prefer a hook over a strap but I dont want a hole in my front bumper. I guess there is no other way around it though hmm
Ian W
Is it for actual use or just for looks with a bling towing eye like below? http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/522060636/Racing-EPR-Tow-Hook-Anodized-Glossy-6061-Aluminium-Front-Rear-Purple-UNIVERSAL.jpg
Parry_10
lol not for bling or looks I dont want to fit one as I think it will ruin the look of the front a bit but then if I ever break down I dont want to have to take my headlights and bumper off so someone can tow me or get my car on a trailer
JamieP
Do something like this easy enough.
Parry_10
I don't think that will be possible with mine as the fmic takes up all the gap in the middle of the do luck bumper
dan294
I was wondering about this. My Bomex bumper covers my towing eyes...
JamieP
I don't think that will be possible with mine as the fmic takes up all the gap in the middle of the do luck bumper You dont have to put it there, just a small hole in the doluck that a tow eye screws into, when i had a doluck on the red car i had this. jazz1
Mines also covered but i have a tow hook in my car and the tools to remove my bumper just in case, it's only 15 minute job so not bad TBH. I'm going to look into a rear one and see if anything can be done with my trial rear.

SupraD06
Jamie, im guessing that your bolted onto the frame work that used to hold the crash bar? That yellow supra is stunning, any more info on it?
JamieP
Jamie, im guessing that your bolted onto the frame work that used to hold the crash bar? On the red car its bolted to the side of the chassis rail, on the black car its bolted to the top.
SupraD06
Cheers, think i'm going to try and fit it on the top section like the black one.

DodgyRog
Can I just ask, are the ones that are bolted on Illegal, as in classed as dangerous to pedestrains in an accident Personally I don't like the look anyway, but I understand they are needed for practicality etc I like the idea of a screw in one like on normal cars, would it be posible to cut the threaded part from a Breaker and weld that to the chassis somewhere and then you would just need a small circular hole to put the threaded eye through the bodywork When in normal daily use you could have a colour coded rubber gromet too fill in the hole Edited March 3, 2012 by DodgyRog (see edit history)
Noz
I dont know if they are illegal, but it would pass MOT. Damage from crash or rust it the only product that would hurt someone that is on the MOT sheet (from what I remember reading that Dude) said. Parry_10
I like the idea of having a small hole in the bumper where you can just screw the towing eye on and off so it wouldnt be on the car all the time only if/when needed. Where would I go about finding something suitable for this?
Parry_10
Also I see what you are saying jazz taking off the headlights and bumper wouldnt be a problem in my eyes but then its easy to damage paintwork on the bumper etc and imo isnt worth it

JamieP
Where would I go about finding something suitable for this? Weld a nut to the side of the chassis rail and drill a hole in the bumper. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Laguna-2-Towing-eye-screw-tow-Tool-kit-2001-06-models-/160747958409?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256d533089
