Weird problem with electricity supply...

Got a pretty weird problem which I hope is not permanent. Hopefully someone could enlighten me...

I had some work done to connect AC supply to the garage. This was done by an electrician. He put in a new isolator in the consumer unit for the supply to the garage. I've noticed today (happened 3 times now today within around 1 hour each time) that suddenly the lights will sort of dim out and then back again to normal. This also affects all the sockets etc. It's like almost having a power cut but then comes back to live again.

I've checked the consumer unit and everything looks fine except for one isolator controlling sockets which trips rather easily.

Any ideas?

And this only effects all the circuits in the garage? Sounds like the sub main has a loose connection. How far is the garage from the house, it could be a volt drop issue?

whoops, should've been clearer. This affects the whole house. Just like everything powering down to near cut-off then back to normal again. Happened 3 times last night but so far so good... The garage is not linked but separated by around 2.5 metres from main house.

Not sure what's wrong but will ask the sparky to have a look anyway.
