sweettom
HI! I'ld have a "off topic" question may be u can help in this. One of day contacted me by a international recruitment company that a job might be interested for me. The company is looking for a DWH developer for one of the leading online gaming companies based in Gibraltar. The name of the Gibraltar's company is this: VictorChandler Here is his history: http://www.betvictor.com/sports/en/content/about-us That's would be a promising opportunity thus i was already thinking a lot of on this. The second interview will be now on friday in phone. I'm very curious your opinion. May be somebody know this company or this place(Giblaltar), because i haven't the faintest idea what kind of place may be.

Pixelfill
Gibraltar is a British colony off the south coast of Spain, very small island close to Costa del sol. Not knowing where Gibraltar is, this information might change your mind. Good luck Mike
Max Headroom
Gibralter is more English than England. Home from home if your that way inclined with warm weather as opposed to drizzle
Thorin
I used to work for William Hill, who off-shored their website infrastructure to Gibraltar (it used to be in the UK, then moved to Antigua, then back to UK when legislation relaxed, then out to Gibraltar). It's a bit of an odd place, lots of betting/gaming companies based out there. Most of the WH lot live just over the border in Spain and commute. Pixelfill
Let me be clear, my comment was merely based on what appeared to be the OP assuming that Gibraltar was in mainland Britain. Based on that assumption finding out that it was in actual fact 1100 miles away might make a difference. I was not suggesting it wasn't a nice place to move to. But you would have to agree it would require more consideration than a job in Surbiton! Mike

nige-rz
Well I'd never live in Gibraltar. I hated the place, had to stay there a night while waiting for my boat to be ready. I didn't warm to it whatsoever. But as mentioned, it's an easy commute from many nice areas of southern Spain. On the other hand, as far as I'm aware it's a tax haven, so this could be a profitable move for you if you were working and resident there. Was thinking about taking the OH there for a week this year.
jonathanc
Any particular reason/s you didn't like it? Was thinking about taking the OH there for a week this year. Always curious...what does OH actually mean? Anyway, never been to Gib myself but a mate who works there says its amazing. Nice weather, nice women, etc etc.

stinboy
Any particular reason/s you didn't like it? Was thinking about taking the OH there for a week this year. For me it's nice for a day trip, but I wouldn't want to spend a week there. My advice would be to try somewhere on the Costa (Estepona is very nice if you like a bit of culture as opposed to a cheesy resort - about 45 mins from Gib) and visit for a day or two. Definitely don't go there with your other half. When I was there it was full of cider swilling types, just felt like I was in Magaluf or something. It's more British than Britain, to the point where it's actually annoying. Apart from the rock of Gibraltar there is nothing of interest to do there either. I couldn't even find any decent restaurants. As someone said before, estepona is a lovely area near gibs that would be a lovely place to visit with your OH, and gives you the option of a day trip to gibs, after which you can kick yourself for not listening to me and wasting a day of your holiday in Gibraltar.
