Chris Wilson Posted February 27, 2012 Share Posted February 27, 2012 I have a Netgear router connecting two PC's and a ethernet over mains adaptor to the phone line and internet. I also connect a printer to one of the sockets. It is now using all its sockets and I want to add another PC and two more printers. I have acquired (thanks IanC) an old DLink DES1008 10/100 fast ethernet switch with 8 ports on it. can I connect the "input" port of the DES1008 to one of the "output" ports of the Netgear router, thus adding seven more ports? Scott Posted February 27, 2012 Share Posted February 27, 2012 This is exactly how it works Chris. Make sure you put the likes of the printers onto the switch rather than a PC you want to use. Switches will slow things down a tiny little bit if using more than one port on it at the same time (as it switches back and forth). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
