j_jza80
Unless that's on delivery mileage, it's not worth that much (yet)
jonathanc
Unless that's on delivery mileage, it's not worth that much (yet) Yup. Surely a collectors car but not sure if it is worth that much. If I have £40k I know that's not first on my list

Tyson
I love old fast fords !! But like said unless its incredibly low mileage then I think it is over priced.

If I have £40k I know that's not first on my list Here's the thing, I'd agree, but if it is delivery mileage then it would be worth it all day, and would be one of the first cars I'd put £40k into. Give it another 10 years and these'll be £80k-£100k cars.
johnny g
I guess I'm a different generation. I just don't see it. £40k gets me a lovely 911, M3, GT-R, etc

It's an investment and the fact that it is rare.

Marty
Jee, do these classic fords really hold their money that well?! I've got an opportunity to get my paws on a E-reg xr3i, 34k warranted miles, one owner from new, full service and immaculate, for £1500, have been umming and arring about it, i'd only be buying it to sell back on for a few bob extra, is it worth it? It's an investment and the fact that it is rare. Exactly. I'd much rather a 996 turbo as a car, but as said the Cosworth makes for an excellent investment. If it has over £10k miles though they're 'avin' a giraffe

Abz
Bricks and mortar for investments, cars for fun. My line of thought too, unless I find my long lost oil baron Uncle... I just can not see a car sitting there... no fun in that. If I had unlimited fund, then I'd buy a few 'just be I could' and then leave them there to look at like £40k would get me a nice Bentley GTC or Ferrari 360 Modena. erol_h
just had a look on pistonheads found the car for sale. http://pistonheads.com/sales/3678559.htm thought the it would have lower miles than 74k. This one has only got 19k but still didn't think they had shot up that much http://pistonheads.com/sales/2524572.htm. When i was reading fast ford mags bout 5-6 years ago they where around the high teens low twenties.
j_jza80
Bricks and mortar for investments, cars for fun. It depends, I've got plenty tied up in property, but its generally a medium to long term investment. These Cosworths are appreciating at a much quicker rate than most property could hope for at the moment, and will be a relatively hassle free sale when you do come to sell. Hassle free and property can barely be used in the same sentence That's my own experience in property, based on the very high property prices in York. just had a look on pistonheads found the car for sale. http://pistonheads.com/sales/3678559.htm thought the it would have lower miles than 74k. If they sell for that, then the values are still on a very strong rise (you could pick up a similar car 5 years ago for just over £20k.) Josh
Fast Fords scream to me. Not a fan at all. As an investment, if as others have said, it'll be worth double in 10 years, I'd buy it if I had a lot of spare cash.

Gaz6002
It's not worth £40k, but I'd stick that much into the right RS500 without even thinking about it. I do love a fast Ford.

Abz
Well they're two totally different cars! I know! Ever since driving my first GT I am in love with them, but in that price bracket a 360 is tempting! All these choices for £40k. Ah, I'll just get a 911 & be done with it! erol_h
Bricks and mortar for investments, cars for fun. I hope your right mate as the flat i bought as a investment just over 5years ago is the same price or just under the price i bought it for. Not exactly a great investment at the moment would of been better in a isa i hope things do get better.
