DodgyRog
As the title really, just been giving the wheels I sold to Rob a quick clean and polish, before I deliver them To be honest they need a good going over to get them perfect, but Rob has said he is painting them and is not worried about them being spotless I just want them to be half decent when I sell them, even if he is going to cover up my hard work with paint Not sure I would get away with this if Jen was not at work though:taped:

Can polish mine if you want mate Not sure if he is definately painting the polished lip or just the centres, anyway I don't like selling things that are not in the best sensible condition If I had a couple of days to do them properly with a mop, I think I could get them back to perfect, as they have come back very well with a quick going over

Robzki
That made me spray coffee on the laptop you didn't need to clean them Rog, although I really do appreciate it. I'm unsure on the painting as they are growing on me the more I see them. at the moment the kitchen is covered in packaging, a bonnet, some shocks and brake refurb parts that will need clearing up before Pat gets home. the things we do when the cats away. I haven't included any pics as that would leave me wide open to blackmail On a side note, it seems that you have probably got the only undamaged jun bonnet in the Uk
DodgyRog
It's up to you Rob, the lips are okay and could definately be saved, will need a little more work if you are as fussy as me, I have noticed while cleaning them today that the paint is bubbling a little on a couple of them, just in the middle around the centre caps I can post a couple of pics if it's something you want to check
mellonman
wow they have come up nice, i should take more care of my car it must be said
Robzki
Not at all, I like them whatever the condition, as long as their are no cracks or bent rims(reason I need some new ones) whatever happens I will refurb the lips and keep them polished, so any corrosion etc here isn't a problem, the centres may go black so the bubbling isn't a problem either. I'm definitely not expecting mint wheels for the price. They do look like they have come up well as said, mine haven't had a clean like that for 4 years Also nice to see pics of them as I've stared at all the others you have put up for too long. I'm getting that 'can't wait' feeling
DodgyRog
Definately no cracks or bends Rob, I would never sell them if that was the case Funnily enough I sold my original wheels and said that there was possibly a slight buckle in one, that had been noticed when new tyres had been put on When the buyer got them checked, there was nothing wrong with them, so guess the tyre place didn't mount them on the machine properly My honesty cost me about £400 off the going rate for them, teach me not to get something double checked

I have been on the receiving end of unscrupulous people before and its not nice, you undoubtedly aren't one of them. One of my wheels is 'egg' shaped which I noticed recently it explains the drumming/vibration. bloody potholes. Don't think they are worth repairing either even if it was possible. DodgyRog
I have just looked back at the pics in the for sale thread and the lips are better polished now, than they were in those pics There are a few blemishes and little dots, that if I had a decent mop would come out, but doing them by hand is just not quite enough The mop would give them a mirror finish I think and would definately be worth the effort I was intending to get the centres painted gloss black, but my others came up at stupidly low price, so I grabed them (thanks Bailey)

I do like polishing, just don't seem to get the time to do it. I'm glad I'm not on the wrong track with getting them painted black, I do have a thing about the look of polished lip and black centres, they just look a bit too blingy atm but I know pics can be deceiving. I'm keeping an open mind. Thanks for the new pic though and the update Are you any good at getting coffee out from between the keys on a laptop? No problem with the pic mate and to get the coffee from between the keys, give it a rinse under the tap;) Disclaimer/small print, if you are stupid enough to put your laptop under the tap, you are to stupid to sue me anyway
Robzki
Just noticed you edited your post Rob Has the Jun bonnet you were getting from Jim been wrecked then Also I can still bring them over Sunday afternoon/teatime ish Not wrecked but they have managed to snap off one rear corner about 1 1/2" chipped the other amongst others and taken a small chunk out of the wing edge. In no way down to the packaging, Lee did a great job and I'm not holding him responsible at all. I was hoping to get the paint off and relacquer it but no chance now. I was fuming and almost slapped the delivery driver, his attitude stank. almost £50 to send and it looks like it has been dropped from a great height onto the rear. Sunday should be good but will let you know later, If I'm not around I can always give you another addy either here or closer to you. def' won't mean a longer drive. I'll let you know later and give you my mobile etc. the wheels are a pressie for her b'day so trying not to let her know until I've had them sorted. The bonnet was also a present for her(romantic eh?) but the damage was a bit depressing. Rob

Rob Gutting about the bonnet, to be honest you proberbly would not of been able to relaquer it anyway, we tried doing mine and the laquer would not bond properly and just started to peel off after a couple of months, that why I ended up painting it

I thought it was a longshot, prefer the painted look anyway tbh, but would have been nice to try in the future. not sure how to go about repairing it but I'm hoping it is possible, I'll post up some pics after we've sorted out whether Parcelforce will take responsibility. ShellShocked repaired/remade one of the corners on mine when they painted it, I had about 3/4 of an inch snapped off on the drivers corner. You would never know now I will have a look if I deliver the wheels to yours, I am sure it can be saved though, it's amazing the amount of damage that can be repaired
Robzki
Excellent, sounds similar, the main damage is on the drivers side rear. Glad yours is as imperfect the rest of the damage I could repair as they are just chunks from the side and small chips. Its the rear corner that looks more tricky as the repair wouldn't have any support but its nice to know that it can be done.
