fastcar
Im getting a squeeking from what im sure is the aircon pulley. So i took the AUX belt off a checked the AC pulley for play and it has about 1mm - 2mm play either way. Should there be any play in the AC pulley? I checked the rest and there is no play at all
Drew_flux
What sort of play are you talking about? Think of a clock face, does it move left/right (9 and 3 o'clock)up/down(6 and 12) Or do you mean backwards and forwards between the radiator and the compressor. The clutch/pully should not move in any direction, except moving back towards the compressor when engaged. A squeak can sometimes be dirt in the clutch, but is often the first signs of a faulty compressor.
Scooter
The outer wheel where the belt goes on the aircon pulley should spin (very) freely, does it? The inside part of the aircon pump you should be able to grip with your hand and turn but this will take a fair bit of force/twisting. When the aircon is switched on a magnet activiates and the free spinning wheel engages with the inner part to start the pumping of the aircon gas. I would check the 10mm (i think) bolt right in the centre of the front of the aircon pump/pulley is not loose.

Lude
have u done a tipex test on the crank pulley?
fastcar
Hi thanks for the replys Have done the Tipex test on crank pulley and all is good. The AC pulley has play if i push it towards the compresser and radiator. It seams to spin freely with no problems. Will check the 10mm bolt in the middle of the AC pump see if it tight

Chris Wilson
Removing the air con compressor is a LOT more involved than people realise. 99% of people do it in such a way as to risk the engine block being broken, and the PAS pump being pulled out of true. IT IS NOT just a matter of unbolting it and fitting a shorter belt!!!
Chris Wilson
There are those who bodge air con re installation, too:

Lude
removing the pump you have to de-gass it, remove the piping & air con rad. then theres a few torx bolts to remove the pump. get a short belt from ebay £10 you must make a brace then though to support it (just a metal bar, nice and strong) like this....
