CJ
Viber Free calls, been using it with lindsay, she is in Egypt just now. pretty good I know this had been mentioned in the "recommend me an Iphone app" thread and as quoted above but I thought I would give it a shout out as a standalone for those who haven't used it. I have used it the past couple of days to ring mates in this country who have it on their Iphones and today rang my son in Oz and all for free. A great app with great quality and much easier to use than Skype. 5* from me!

But I do have Viber on my phone, not used it in anger though.
CJ
Yea, I've heard of good things with it. Unfortunately, most of my contacts are on Skype, so I use that. But I do have Viber on my phone, not used it in anger though. IMO much easier than Skype in as much as it is just like a new contact list and a quick press to call. The quality of call was superb too.
AndrewOW
I did use it for a little while, and if you're in a wi-fi zone it is very good, but I think it's more suitable for long-distance calls really. Being free it's a very good buy.
CJ
I've not used it away from wifi yet. How good is it using just the 3G signal?
AndrewOW
I've only used it within the wi-fi area, and don't think it works that well on 3G, as the signal fluctuates too much. A bit like normal mobile, if you see what I mean.
fastcar
I did have it but I heard it can wipe your phones memory. Not sure how true that is though as people do like to talk crap
AndrewOW
It automatically adds contacts that are also using Viber, and lets them know too, which could be a little presumptious, but other than that I haven't had any issues.

Abz
I have used it here and there. It certainly is a great app, and as you say easy to use with it telling you who on your contact list has viber.

Dim Sum
There is another one also CJ called whatsapp which is similar and handy if viber is down. Whatsapp service is for people who likes to send message/pictures/short clips rather than ringing people. I don't think there is a call option available for Whatsapp yet/. d-_-b
My whatsapp seems to be significantly delayed now between the time I get a message from someone & when it alerts me (if I am not in the app : Will have to check out the Skype alternative, sounds useful for voice! And i thought i was the only one. For Whatsapp my messages at times are delayed for a day at best but before checking Skype, do try Viber.
