Just had my mouth set on fire by a Sharwoods curry in a jar.

Have you ever heard of Dave's Insanity Sauce, which for a while held the title of "world's hottest sauce." The sauce is widely distributed through gourmet hot sauce boutiques and online hot-sauce sites. It is well-known to hot sauce enthusiasts, and is often used as the standard of comparison for flaming hot sauces. I bought a bottle two years ago in ASDA. It has been rated at 180,000 Scoville units, compared with 2,500-5,000 for Tabasco sauce.

I have had it for two years and the bottle is only half.. Hot as hell.. Only one drop is needed in a sauce pan when you cook and it's still foooken hot.. Check at ASDA and try one..

Yeah, my mate had that one too (he's into all that stuff, can you tell lol). He dipped a marshmallow thing into it a while back and gave it to my Wife. She thought it was sauce or something, we were very drunk, and she scoffed it before realising. 10 mins later she was in the toilet using the big white phone.

The chilli in this sauce measures 1 million Schoville units ;)

This is on label;

"Great cooking ingredient for sauces, soups, and stews. Also strips waxed floors and removes driveway grease stains."

Label also includes the following

WARNING: "Use this product one drop at a time. Keep away from eyes, pets and children. Not for people with heart or repiratory problems."

I going to look for the Currie sauce you had. I love hot food but think I might regret it..

If you like things hot Scott chuck some of Dave's Ghost Pepper Sauce in any curry you have, you can buy it at most supermarkets.

Also go on hotheadz.com and have a little look at some sauces on there. There is one called the Source that is rated over 7 million Scovilles.

I don't eat them often though...I buy them from a deli on Great Western Road and the guy gives me a discount in them as I'll buy atleast 5 packets at a time!:)

They are very good if you like hot food.

I'll give them a go :)

That Source sounds like a spicey meataballa.

Great thread.

I think we may need a poll at some point :D

I do love a good hot curry, but never on the night before I have to teach a group of students.

It wouldn't be fair on them and bad for business :D

Is it the Naga Jaikolia chilli they used Scotty bums gonna be hotty

Up until this moment I have never suffered from ring sting due to food. Also, right up until tonight I had never felt a burning sensation in my gut after eating(which I do now) so I guess there's a first for everything. The Bhut (Ghost) Jolokia or Naga King chili is what it is commonly known as.

I would just like to point out that I took round 2 in style. Followed it up with 2 spoonfulls of ice cream and a Cadbury Fudge dessert, yummy.

Sounds great, will give it a try. Naga are lethal there can be no doubt. In Pakistan they suspend naga by a piece of cotton while the curry is cooking after the fry and keep checking it to ensure it hasn't split, trying as they go until the hotness is just to the taste desired. There seems to be quite a few hot specials around at the moment, Lidl have released a pizza called inferno, and it really is an inferno. I eat Encona all the time and we chop Kenyan chilli and add it to our tuna sarnies and we grow different types every year, including halabenero and birds eye, but these pizzas from Lidl are at a different level.

The best way to lose the heat from your mouth is to soak a flanel in water then microwave

it till it's steaming.

Carefully place over your face around your mouth without scolding yourself

and hey presto the heat from the curry is reduced significantly.

The hotter the flanel the better :)

I love hot curries, but for some reason my gut has suddenly decided it doesn't like peppers. It doesn't even have to be a chilli pepper, just a normal red, yellow or green pepper. So recently I've been downgraded to Tikka Mossala! :(

My father in law however, will quite happily go into an indian restaurant whilst waiting for his passengers to come back to the bus (he owns a 16 seater and does stag or hen parties so hangs about), order a Phall, no drink, and just eat it. The looks he gets from the waiters etc are so funny. They always look so confused!

I'm almost too ashamed to admit this but I'm going for it anyway. Yesterday the Wife called me from Asda telling me about some limited edition curry from Sharwoods. I usually get the Madrass but as this one seemed rather special she thought she would ask. She read it out to me, explaining that it was their hottest ever curry etc, etc, etc and what with their Madrass being reasonably mild for a madrass I thought there would be no danger. How wrong was I.

I only managed half of the curry I prepared and it took a full litre of diluted juice to put the flames out. My tongue still feels a little scorched lol.

Anyway, if you like REALLY hot curries then I would recommend it. I don't mind a hot curry, as long as it has the flavour to back it up, this didn't have anywhere near as much taste as it did fire so it's not for me.

For once, it does EXACTLY what it says on the jar. It has a 4 chilli rating (which is the max) but it also has 3 + signs after it lol.

No, it's way past that. It's a limited edition sauce, called bhut jolokia.

I've had some stuff called ultra death sauce from the states, now that stuff is hot !!! 750,000 scoville units, it took me a tub of ice cream to kill the burn !!!

Still not as hot as this. As I've said this stuff is 1,000,000 (now writing with the zeros as million doesn't seem to be sinking in :D )
