Supra N_A
how do you kno if the turbo has failed or is failing? smoke out of the exhaust system/tint blue smoke? or does the car still boost OK using 1 turbo or can you really tell one has failed well the 2nd turbo for example on that note? or mucho different readings on the boost gauge (need one tbh) **no my turbos are not failing or has failed ** just a general question Edited February 19, 2012 by Supra N_A (see edit history)
Sheefa
A large shotgun sound and a plume of white smoke stretching circa 100 metres was my sign of my hybrid tubbies going bang! Blue smoke can certainly be a sign of Turbo seals going, not necessarily the turbos themselves. Not sure on Stock but BPU you can certainly tell of a turbo failure the power band disappears off the scale. Boost gauge as you mentioned is the best bet to identify any potential problems - i.e. not running full 1.2 bar but that could be a popped hose or other issue. I think you just 'know' if it does happen - it's a pretty significant problem.

Chris Wilson
If the first turbo has failed (as in totally dead), then the second turbo will never, ever, come on line unless someone has done nasty things with the plumbing.
Scott
You will no longer be able to time travel when the car goes above 88mph and the red button will no longer flash.
