CanisLupus
Hi guys hope you can help me. Situation is the following: A friend of mine bought a Pulsar GTI-R with UK Plates. Sadly he died in an accident several months ago and now i'm about to get his car. The problem is that the documents of the car can't be found and it still has UK plates(he never got round transferring the car to german plates). Is there any way i can get the documents for the car and how? I will have the sales contract etc so that the car is officially mine. Thanks in advance for you help! Scott
There's a form to change owners on the V5 and also to apply for a new V5. I did it a few years back when I bought a car and never recieved the V5 through the door.
Benjy
I'm assuming you're outside of the UK? You need to fill out a V62 form asking for a new V5 document. It'll cost £25. I assume they could send a UK log book to you so you can have it transferred. If not, register it to someone in the UK and then get them to fill it out as an export in your name I suppose. It'd be easy if it was over here.
CanisLupus
Yup i'm over here in germany. I assume i'd have to come to the UK to get everything done? As said i've got nothing but the plates for the car no V5 or anything else it got lost in the accident or somewhere else. It just can't be found
Scott
You don't need the V5 to apply for a V5 though, that's what we are saying You can use the form mentioned by Ben to apply for a new document and a change of ownership.

Swampy442
Take it you can't just re register it in Germany without the log book? As above then, apply to the DVLA for a new V5

Sorry was kind of late The problem with the V62 is that i have to have an UK Based address Is there another way to get around this or do i have to find someone who would accept it for me? @Swampy haven't thought about that I'll have a look into this. But as far as i know the german bureaucracy i'll have to get the UK log book etc first Thanks for all your help!

For change of ownership you need a UK address though.

Swampy442
Its a pretty painless process, the DVLA are normally quite efficient (in my experience)
