Supra Kong
Near double death experience!!! As i was driving my ferociously fast Hyundai Getz 1.1 (of course the GSI) yesterday, i noticed a smell of burning! To my horror i then realized that my very mature and class adding Neons in the footwell had cought fire!! As i was on a dual carriageway i didn't wanna stop. But then when i couldnt breath or see from the smoke and the flames now reaching worrying heights, i pulled to the side. Simultaniously i now pull the burning neons off the footwell as the sound of a speeding lorry's horn makes me drop them again. After i realized he had missed me by an inch or so i managed to get the fire under control!!! The worst thing out of all of this was.... there is no more neons in the drivers footwell!! )-: What the hell could have caused that?
Supralad
What the hell could have caused that? Hold on, stop the internet... You mean to tell me that high quality neon lights (probably from Halfrauds for £9.99) that go in your footwell had a malfunction and caught fire? This is first... Sarcasm aside, it sounds like this experience was quiet scary and I am glad you survived your near rear-end reverse into a lorry too.
Noz
Sounds like cheap wire getting too hot and the wires shorting out. Once the wire shorts, the current just flows and generates too much heat and starts to ignite the plastic which turn's into the most horrid smoke and smell and generally nastyness in the air. Had this once before many years ago when I also had neon's and LED's. I never got anymore in memory of the amazingly awesome glow that I once had would never be replaced with new colour glows. Cheap wire that is too thin for the job! Clearly the wire was on it's last legs.
Benjy
I bought an led strip to go in my fish tank. I came home to a very hot and smokey living room. Returned them to the aquatics centre and went garretty!!
Supra Kong
Possibly the wire, though they were fine for 3 years and the wire itself looked ok.
