staples230uk
Might be a bit of a noddy question, but..... I'm looking to buy a second car to munch the miles in and keep my supra as a weekend or even summer car for a bit of fun. Am I able to have two car insurance policies in my name, have thought about a multicar policy, but would like to spread the insurance cost through out the year and don't want to pay for it on a monthly basis. The reason why I ask is the fact that that some people say you cant have two seperate policies in your name and some day you can. Or if any of you have any further suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them Thanks guys and girls.
Tricky-Ricky
I have two separate policy's, for what reason shouldn't you have?
Soop Dogg
Of course you can have two separate policies at the same time - just not on the same car!
staples230uk
Thought you could, I was told this by the "experts" at work! But thought I'd bring it to the wiser individuals on here
stevie_b
As Soop Dogg said.
Guigsy
Yep. I have 2 policies. From what iv seen multicar deals are not all they are cracked up to be as people have had trouble with loading bonus when changing cars
tkddav3
im using multicar. we've got the whole familly on there so with 5 cars it does bring down the price
Havard
Smiffy, get the Supe on a classic. It's as cheap as chips. What are you paying at the moment? H.
Abz
Admiral multi car policy is pretty good, I am sure they can spread the payments too, they pretty helpful.
stevie_b
I would go with Havard's suggestion. Classic insurance really is dirt cheap: the only downside is that it doesn't accrue NCD, but if you only have one set anyway then you don't lose anything. Delboy52
Yep, you can be on multiple polices. I'm the main driver on 2 cars and was a named on a 3rd. You can't spread your current NCB over multiple polices though. For example my Celica carries the 10 years NCB, the Supra has 0 NCB but the insurer can take into consideration the main bonus so doesn't price me up like a new driver. I still found keeping to the specialist insurers cheaper than going muliti-car. I couldn't get classic on a modified import, so pay just over £400 fully comp on limited mileage. If you want to spread the cost of all the car policies you could always get a new 0% purchase credit card every year. Very handy instant loan on anything. Just don't miss a payment or the deal's off. staples230uk
Nice one delboy! I was wondering what would happen with my NCB too. H my last renewal was £450 but have been quoted £350 for my next renewal which is pretty good to be honest. What company are you going through for classic, as I have gone down this route and got a "no" due to the fact the car is an import
BK1
I had mirrored NCB with Sky for my import NA Supra and a Celica, but now have a limited mileage policy with Livingstones Warman.
Neil-NA
Using H's advice i went on a classic policy with the supe and a 4x4 insuarnce for my rav and came out around £150 cheaper for the pair than just the supe on its own, thats with 2 different companies. Do you loose your no claims bonus if you make a fault claim on the Supra? The reason I ask is a mate at work has a car and motorcycle policy. He made a fault claim on his motorcycle insurance and lost all his no claim bonus for his car.
