Anyone know what to use to flush the Power steering reservoir?

I'm thinking about putting new fluids in the Power steering reservoir so might as well flush all the old stuff out and maybe cleaning it. Anyone know what to pour into the Power steering reservoir to give a clean or is it not advisable?

So just keep flushing it with the power steering fluid? planning to use Dexron III ATF

Yes, that's the best idea to avoid contamination. Although it has been mentioned to use petrol/thinners to clean the reservoir pot as the mesh within it gets clogged easily.

I know it sounds silly, mixing it with water. I guess it still counts as contamination ............

I think all the cleaning of the mesh methods are done with it off the car first.....

If the fluid has not beem foaming up and you just want to put new fluid in to refresh/service it then i'd just do a straight fluid swap.

Would rinsing the tank with water damage anything? Or effect it?

If I came to do it, I would take the advice on here which is I believe a combination of degreasers/solvents and air pressure to clean the mesh in the bottom of the reservior. Might rinse it finally with water I'd just make sure it was thoroughly dry before popping it back in a refilling with aft....
