Guest Daddio
G'day all Am considering swapping my JDM speedo for a UK speedo. As you know, the stock JDM speedo only reads to 180km/h, whereas the UK one reads to 180MPH. Having been involved in the ElGlo group buy (shouts Hi to SupraSteve!), I am pretty sure the markings for JDM 180km/h are pretty much identical to the UK 180MPH ones. As I have an ElGlo dash set (well, two actually!) I would like to keep the gauge faces as they match nicely with my blue LED conversion on the rest of the dash. Rather than go with a TRD gauge (320km/h) I'd prefer to keep my ElGlo gauges, and have a speedo that is of some use in 4th, 5th and 6th gear! So question is: Can I fit a UK speedo into my S1 JDM dash and it will read in MPH off the standard speed sensor (I will add a 'conversion' set of km/h numbers)? Will doing this mess with my odo (which, being JDM reads in KM), and if so, any ideas how to fix it (currently have just under 100k km on odo)? If someone has an S1 manual (pre-96) UK 180 MPH speedo for sale that they are prepared to ship to Australia, let me know. Thanks
Jos
I have put a european 300 kph speedo in my jspec supra and that did not give any problems, can't see why a uk speedo would.
Scott
We generally use converters over here to output in MPH rather than KPH. Fairly straight forward.
Guest Daddio
Thanks for prompt replies gentlemen (and enlightenment! Never heard of a Euro spec speedo before!) Will post a wanted ad and see how it goes Edit: Hmmm...cant post a wanted ad, seems I dont have enough posts (over 4000 posts on SF, not enough here!) I dislike the idea of creating posts simply to 'fill a quota' Edit edit: Found one on eBay...
