CJ
I read another thread in the members area whereby this forum was criticised and so, on the other side of the coin, here is my latest experience. As most will know, I recently bought an MR2 and so joined up to two of main forums that deal with that marque. Today I posted up on both asking for advice on the best way forward to swap a turbo engine into an NA (that should cause a couple of smiles on here) and also to get the power up after the swap. I posted them at around 12.15pm and so far have had 1 reply on both of the forums. Now, I am not knocking those places as obviously they are not as busy as this one (although quite why I am not sure as there must be a lot of MR2 owners out there) but you would have thought that you would get more than one reply in 6 hours. Can you imagine that here? You would probably be on 4 pages by now!

mellonman
you have to consider age of car and how many are left to activity on a site, i expect it might be the same here where someone comes along and asks how to swop a n/a to tt, not everyone that knows replys because it comes up so much from a newbie. i hope you tried to search for it
CJ
The trouble is it would be 4 pages of,, use the FAQ button, you don't spell your like that or some other witty responce OK, but other than the responses that I normally post, there would still be quite a lot
Abz
Funny you say that CJ, the other day a colleague was asking about something technology related & I told him I would put it up on our forum & get the answer straight away. He was a little puzzled till I showed him a few threads, you get quicker replies than the MS forums! That's what brilliant about this place, it's not 'just' a car forum:)

fastcar
It is easily the best forum. I'm on a forum for the RX7 it's good but not as good as this site and not as much of a laugh
Westy
This forum is addictive! Everyone has a laugh (most of the time at each other!) and everyone seems willing to help! Keep it up! Glad I'm a member!
CJ
It has now been about 11 hours and still no reply on the other forums. Sad to say that I have gleaned more info on here re. the MR2 than I have on the marque specific ones.

Sadly, my budget was "very" limited and would not have bought me a set of good tyres, never mind a car

CJ
I know & to be honest the MR2 is a wise choice for that, not so sure about how lairy it is about to become though Well, we (as in me and my youngest son Josh who, by the way, was the main ideas fella behind the design of the old Orange car) have already bought an accident damaged turbo model and have pplans to either fix that up and sell the UK one on or (and this is more likely) swap the parts needed to turn the UK into a 300ish BHP car that looks something like this:

jonathanc
Have to say compared to the other car forums I frequent (GTROC,IMOC and TT-Forum) this is the most active! I frequent PH too but that's a whole different kettle of fish. It's very active but its so huge you get lost unless you are a super famous or rich poster.
