supra_aero
Yes and yes, it's highly unlikely you will find any antifreeze that's not ethylene glycol based, unless it's 25 years old stuff and methanol based. There's absolutely no need to use that red Forlife stuff, even Toyota in the handbooks just specify "an ethylene glycol based anti freeze". Thanks Chris. Just went outside to top it up then my radiator cap came off in 2 bits!! One part is still stuck in the radiator and the spring and cap came off in my hand! This may explain why my heater has been blowing luke warm air recently. I put the cap back on with the spring (its not been overheating at all). Not sure what to do ! Thanks for your help though, I'd never have noticed it had this thread not come up! EDIT - will bus it to work until I get a new radiator cap. No point taking any chances with it. Thanks again for your help all. Edited February 11, 2012 by supra_aero (see edit history)

I have an as new used cap in stock from when someone has had an aftermarket rad fitted with the MKIII style cap. Do you want it? £5 plus postage, say £7.50? The cap probably will explain odd cooling issues.
