evening all

i have a late 2nd turbo issue on my uk spec,i have looked at this thread

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35926-The-sequential-system&highlight=boost+problem

and it appears i have a problem with the EGBV?

so far to try and diag this i have swapped the VSV which made no difference and i have used a airline to 'Boost' the system as such and i can see the actuator moving!

so i am at a bit of a dead end of where to look next :(

Yeah loads of people have sorted the issue. Usually it's down to the VSV but it can also be down to the pressure tank leaking, or a few other things.

The best thing to do is the quick TTC mod to see if the system holds pressure. If it does then it would be most likely electrical (a VSV) or possibly the turbo itself.

what do you means hold pressure? like it boosts to 1.0bar and stays there?

i have just fitted a boost controller to which i am yet to set up so have low boost at the moment

Ahh, no.... here's me thinking you would know more about it than me :p

When you put the car in TTC mode you actually pressurise the entire sequential system in order to hold the actuators open by bypassing 2 of the VSVs. Once you have put the car in TTC mode take it for a run till you hit full boost on the 2nd turbo (to make sure everything is fully opened and pressurised). After the run check that the actuators are still open, if they are then your entire sequential system (pressure wise) is fine and you don't have any leaks. As you don't have any leaks it can only be electrical or down to the tubby.

ahh cool..... can this TTC mode still be done even though one vsv has been removed and a EBC fitted?

although i have had TT's and worked on loads never done or seen the TTC mod

Yeah that's not an issue. The vsv you have bypassed doesn't control the transition. You bypass the one next to that one and the one on the top rear of the engine.

well i carried out the TTC mode.. my turbo's comes online about 4k ( break traction at 5k though)

i lifted the bonnet and both actuators appeared fully open, i then removed one of the smaller pipes (ones you have to bypass to do the TTC) and had a rush of air and the actuators both returned to the rest position.

would it appear my pressure tank is in good order and i have no leeks?

if so i still need to look into my late 2nd turbo when the car is back in sequential

Yup sounds perfect. Definitely sounds vsv related. The one you bypassed at the top rear is the one to check.
