Next logical step?

hey looking for imput,

currently BPU looking to progress to APU but want to do it in stages (2 years/2 stages).

1993 Jspec RZ 60,000 km 6 speed

current parts/ specs are:

Electric rad fan/shroud

aluminum rad

rad cooling plate

Blitz 4inch intercooler and piping

Blitz Access ECU

Blitz Boost gauge

HKS Super dragger 4'inch

HKS SSQV

single decat pipe

APEXi intake

RPS Max Series 6 Puck Sprung Hub Clutch

Fidanza Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel

TRD trans mount

Titan 264 intake/exhaust cams

Titan cam gears

unorthodox lightweight pullies

Gates cam belt

Gates aux belt

new oem water pump

new oem oil pump

NKG spark plugs

so currently there is little i can do to push my BPU any further so im wanting to go single soon i just don't know what is best to start with. i do plan on going with the Pro EFI from SP thus i have not spent money on all the other gauges because I will just get the CAN display and have every gauge i could need in one and also have the boost controler and every other possible function.

my question is does it make sense to get the proefi first and run it with stock fuel and turbo and then do turbo/ fueling the following year? does anyone every upgrade the computer and run stock components (knowing that this will be done for a short amount of time) or should i run stock turbo on upgraded fueling and computer (clearly at very low boost/ duty cycle).

Financially i can not do all at once.. but over time i would expect to get all three but what make logical sense to upgrade and in what order? or is there anything you would add first.

lol, Never heard of that one, thanks both of you, learn something every day

As you can see MrRee I am as much use to your thread as plastic brake pads. So I will wish you good luck and leave :)

It's an American-ism... much like BPU is. We don't use the term over here hence why you haven't heard of it before. It isn't MrRee's thread either, he was just helping you out as I was. Now sit down and pay attention :p

C- Could try harder.

also i guess another good question would be for all the other Jspec guys out there with the smaller brakes, what BBK have you gotten? what are you upgrading to.

You'll probably be around 400hp with stock turbos and aftermarket cams at 1.2bar. The stock 440cc injectors will be at the limit at that power, if you fitted bigger injectors and mapped ECU it'd be possible to get around 430hp max.

The most popular brake upgrade is to fit the larger front 4pot/rear 2pot Supra brakes, they are big improvement over the smaller brakes.

Agreed, the 4/2 pots with a suitable brake pad compound to match the type of use your car gets.

BBK's are typically installed by people for aethetic reasons, as very few people push their A80 hard enough to need more braking than the 4/2 offers.

Just be sure to buy quality rotors to go with the new callipers/pads, as the metal they are made from has a huge bearing on their abiltiy to cope with prolonged heat. The cheap aftermarket rotors will not be worth the money you save over the oem items
