Chris Wilson
Do yourself a favour, take the deposit back, heave a sigh of relief and buy a proper car, not one these kidology hybrids that cost a fortune when they go wrong, and make you look like some tree hugging weirdo, or a lower ranking politician
Guest JassB
Unfortunately it's one of those stereotypical issues. Always best to take an experienced person with you. Don't feel too bad, there have been times when i would so like to be a woman - Once I needed some brake pipe unions in a emergency so decided to call at the local kwik fit as it was the only place within walking distance. Went there, the chap stared at me for a second and said "no sorry we don't have any left" I went back miffed and thought, lets try sending my sister who was with me at the time and what do you know et voila! not one but five brake unions! Hey, your sister is worth pure gold ... can she be my sister for a day so we can go together to speak to my dealer?... Pretty Please? x
Soop Dogg
I'd doubt that a dealer would do this for an extra £500 on a transaction of £18K, tbh. I could see that happening if the car was for sale for £5K, but not 18. It's much more likely they've found something with the car's history that would place them on a sticky wicket if they sold it. Perhaps the checks they did when they acquired it looked ok, but something else has now turned up such as a finance company has contacted them saying the car is actually theirs as they haven't been paid by the former owner? (Had this happen once when I ran a garage) Or maybe they've discovered a mileage discrepancy or some damage that didn't come back on the checks they did? Whichever, I'd be happy to walk away without insisting that they let me buy it!

Everybody advised me to take the deposit back and look for another car, so, I have decided to give up on that Lexus now I'm not happy about it but life goes on... Ok... This is what I'm looking for: 4x4 with decent boot, pref from 2007, no higher then 40.000m, desirable in dark colour, leather, sat nav, alloy wheels... Liked Lexus as it's Hybrid so no congestion charge in London, and as I travel to work by car every day it would mean more cash in my pocket to spend on other things Any suggestions? Guest JassB
Imagine £18k worth of Supra! Supra is great and I would love it!!!! ... but I have a feeling I would become very unpopular with my 6ft tall son who is very much used to being driven from and to basketball matches, and my lovely Dalmatian who loves laying on her back in a boot of the car

X As you had to take into consideration the London congestion charge, I take it you must go in and out of London a fair bit. I can understand you needing a 4x4 though - those green lanes around Bishopgate are hell during the rush hour!

I can understand you needing a 4x4 though - those green lanes around Bishopgate are hell during the rush hour! Chris Wilson
I have never understand how anyone who doesn't NEED a 4x4 could possibly WANT a 4x4, is this country full of people who hide a secret desire to be farmers or truck drivers? I have never understand how anyone who doesn't NEED a 4x4 could possibly WANT a 4x4, is this country full of people who hide a secret desire to be farmers or truck drivers? Me too, Really gets me going, its usually(but not always) the kind of people who are eco tree huggers that like to tell everyone about their new solar panels they have had fitted to single handedly save the planet. If I didn't need one there is no way I would have one, I despise them with a vengeance, even my own.
