Mark Ayling
What a bunch of tossers! Don't forget to mention to them how much bad press they're getting/going to get on here and all the other Jap Car clubs...!
SupraSapphire
Phoned Dave at Wheel Mania at 1pm. Didn't get very far. He asked me for my phone number and said he'd phone straight back. Still hasn't phoned back I don't hold out much hope that he will as he's only ever phoned back twice in the whole time this has been going on. I'll phone him again in a bit
Nathan
Originally posted by SupraSapphire Sadly, I didn't pay by visa, I used my debit card. One thing that was a little strange though was that I didn't sign anything. I gave my details over the phone and expected to have to sign something when I went to get the wheels fitted This isn't very wise (on WM's part) and only goes to suggest that they either aren't too switched on business-wise or are simply gambling that the card numbers they get are kosher. Taking a card number via phone (debit, credit or otherwise) and then charging the amount in full (when it's not a mail order)leaves you wide open to fraud. Not saying that anyone here is worried about whether WM has any fraudulant card problems but it's all one big circle and if companies take card numbers over the phone on these terms it simply fuels the need for bent cards in the first place so everyone loses out. The correct procedure is to take a deposit amount, say 10pc of the total value. That way, when the customer comes down to settle up you have a signature for most of the amount charged. So far, I've seen no evidence that the card number you gave them was in fact yours, and they have no signature from you to say otherwise... ....shame you didn't happen to have someone elses card around when you paid for them if you get my drift.... SupraSapphire
Just been on the phone to Dave. I had to ring him as he hadn't phoned me back He says he won't give me a refund until I go down to the shop and let him fit the wheels so that he can see what the problem is. I know if I were to do this he'd either say that they look ok to him or offer to order a different spacer kit. Either way I'm not going to be happy. I offered to send him a pic of the car with the wheels fitted illustrating the problem but he reckoned he wouldn't be able to tell from that. He was also saying that I hadn't tried the wheels properly and that he'd fitted them on hundreds of Supras before. If anyone has had spacers fitted by Wheel Mania and are happy with them, could they please PM me. Basically he seemed to be trying to encourage me to fit the wheels and drive around on them for a while. To this I told him there was no way I was going to fit the wheels and drive around on them as this would affect my statutory rights. The conversation ended after about 25 minutes with him saying that he would have to contact his boss and see what he had to say. To be continued........ Adam_SG
What a tosser! Could you just send em back recorded delivery? (geta picture of their condition) ask for a refund back on your card within 24 hours or you will proceed with court proceedings? You've got to travel miles just to get there i personally would be arsed to drive back down just to have em speak more crap to try and get me to keep em. Andrew Dunk Shaw
Im not 100% on this but i thought dave was the boss of WM, thats the impression i got when i went there. He's a very well paid member of staff then as he's had a supra mk4 followed by a 355 so ive been told by m8's that also have been there and luckily walked away with similar opinions to my own. I think at some point your going to have to go there with someone to help you keep a record of what is said, take a note of your statuary rights with you, tell him you want your money back and take it from there, then if they still play hard ball i'd get in touch with your solicitor give him all the facts and 1 decent letter from them should see you sorted. I almost got stitched up by a main dealer once on a £48,000 car, it got sorted but it took 2 months, but i wasted too much time trying to sort it nicely and just kept being fobbed off with the, he's in a meeting phone calls. Until i got my solictor involved they just took the p**s, it took threats of court action, trading standards etc before they came clean. dil
I agree with Dunk, I think you are going to have to go back there and prove it too them once and for all, I would recommend going there on a saturday afternoon when its nice and busy so you've got enough spectators, make a scene, make it be known that you've got a problem with this place but be cool. I see your in wales direction a bit of a drive maybe there's a supra owner out birmingham ways who would be willing to meet you there, that way you can drive down with the wheels in something a bit more economical and not waste any more money on these guys. Once you show them whats wrong then there is no dispute, I'd take a camera aswell and take some pics once they've put the wheels to have a record. Just don't take no for an answer

michel lane
why do you think he has a 355 ???
far
haven't they seen the wheels are not correct already? if so its unreasonable for them to ask you to come down just so they can see them again - send a solicitors letter and get in touch with trading standards unless they agree over the phone they will give you a refund in full if you make the trip across to them.If they dont agree quote the sales of goods act to them(see earlier msg) and say you are getting in touch with trading standards and your solicitor - they may pap it at this stage and give you a refund saving you all the hassle involved
SupraSapphire
Not heard from Dave today, no surprise there Meant to phone him but got side tracked in work. I'll phone tomorrow and arrange to go down sometime. They haven't seen the wheels with this size spacer on. They tried them with a 25mm spacer which they admitted was too big, and said that a 10-15mm would be fine. Maybe it would but as you know they sent me 20mm Don't think I'll get the chance to go down this Saturday now.
tDR
Sorry to hear about your problems with the wheels / spacers / wheel mania Jon. I tried to warn you m8! As others have said, you are entitled to a full refund because the wheels are not suitable for their intended purpose. As CW mentioned, spacers are a bad idea on most cars and especially bad on a heavy performance car like the Supra. Ibrar (posted earlier in this thread) is clued up on the correct wheel specs for the Supra and from what I've seen will give you a good deal on a tasty wheel / tyre package. Adam W
Yep, the fact that they need a spacer at all shows they are not fit for purpose. Stick to your guns and don't let em weasel out of it or do any more work.
SupraSapphire
I tried fitting the wheels again at the weekend and allowed the suspension to settle properly. They still stuck out by about 10mm but after much deliberation I have decided to keep them. The fact that my car had been sitting in the garage for 6 weeks was killing me. Enough was enough. I'm going to get wheel mania to sort me out with some 15mm spacers. If they're no good I'm going to look into fitting longer studs and use 10mm non-hublicated spacers. Sorry if this disappoints anyone and I know I should really take them back just on the principal but it's kinda cutting off my nose to spite my face. As for wheel mania, I would never ever recommend them to anybody. The guy I've been dealing with is completely hopeless and never phones back. Thanks for all your views and support. Andrew Dunk Shaw
Its your decision ofcourse, but aren't you going to have serious problems with your tyres hitting the arch's when your suspension moves up and down.
