Chris Wilson
OK, it's 1930's, bear with the intro or hop to about 1:40 minutes. Not much has changed. They didn't reckon with JamieP and 1000BHP, but otherwise this guy would be perfectly familiar with a modern diff' Best illustrated explanation I have seen, it pains me to say this about an American video, but hey, I have broad shoulders I know from speaking to customers the dfferential is often misunderstood, this may help show a slightly complex gear train clearly

Scott
Good watch that. Would be good to see a similar explanation with regards to limited slip diffs. I always knew how a stock diff worked but I don't get the LSDs.

Scott
So how does a limited slip differential work then? I'm taking a shot in the dark here..... is there a certain amount of tension on the cog that rotates to allow the 1 wheel to turn? Ie it takes a certain amount of force to make it rotate off centre? AndyT
Great find that. For such an old vid the editing and modeling are spot on. They certainly didn't reckon with JP though.
